Here are the January 2026 San Francisco Radio PPM ratings:

And the January 2026 San Jose Radio PPM ratings:

Your thoughts or observations?

It also looks like The Breeze didn't fully recover from KOIT's annual all-Christmas extravaganza.

Are subscribing stations and ad agencies still able to see the Cumulus numbers? Or has Cumulus been completely removed from the Nielsen ratings book?

Do you have the demographic breakdown for KYLD?

As with any non-subscriber, the ratings are still available for subscribers to see, IF they meet the minimum criteria of a 0.1 AQH rating, which most major stations do.

It's worth noting that in most markets where the PUMM is around 5% M-Sun 6A-Mid, it takes around a 1.8 to 2.0 share to get that 0.1 rating.

david please forgive my dumb questions, but i thought AQH share was rating. Percentage of audience during a quarter hour. i thought i understood, but obviously i do not. i thought i understood share, and the different stat of cume - cumulative listeners. also, what is PUMM?

"Ratings" is a generalized term to cover audience measurement.
In specific usage, what you see released publicly is AQH "Share", or the percentage of the available audience at any given time listening to a station.
"AQH Rating" is that same audience, but expressed as a percentage of the total population, not just the available audience.
PUMM = Persons Using Measured Media, or the available audience at any given time.

So, as a rudimentary example:
If the total market population is 1,000,000
And the PUMM is 10,000
And a station's AQH Persons is 1000, then that station has a 10.0 AQH Share (% of PUMM) and a 0.1 AQH Rating (% of Universe)

So, as a rudimentary example:
If the total market population is 1,000,000
And the PUMM is 10,000
And a station's AQH Persons is 1000, then that station has a 10.0 AQH Share (% of PUMM) and a 0.1 AQH Rating (% of Universe)
so, for instance, the market population (1,000,000) times the AQH rating (0.1%) = 1000 listeners.
in charlotte's holiday book, market pop (2,620,000) WLNK had a 0.6 AQH rating (0.6%) = 15,720 listeners? did i do that right?
and wkqc had 14.9% AQH, = 390,380 listeners?

A rating of 0.6 is about a 12 share. What it means is that 0.6% of the total survey area (MSA) is listening on average.

Remember, the ratings don't take into account those under 6 years of age. Your figure is correct for the 6+ population.

A rating of 0.6 means 15,700 listeners. A full 1 rating would mean 1% of the population, or 26,200 persons AQH.

A 14.9 SHARE (essentially nobody in a major market has had a 15 RATING since the 60's) is about a rating of around a 0.6 to 0.7 depending on the PUMM in that market.

i was with you until that last line but then it went over my head. what did wkqc have?
Share: percentage of all radio listeners who are listening to one station.
  • The average listening all week 6 AM to Midnight is one person out of every 20, or 5%. "Share" is the percentage of that 5% going to each rated station.
Rating: Percentage of all persons, whether they are listening or not, who are listening to each station.
  • A station with a share of 6 has a rating of about 0.3. That's because you are measuring that station's audience against the total market, not just those who happen to have their radio (or station stream) on.

INCORRECT
In the Holiday book, WLNK had a 0.6 AQH SHARE... and WKQC had a 14.9 SHARE. In turn, WKQC had a 0.6 RATING and WLNK had less than a 0.1 RATING.

so wkqc had a 14.9 aqh share 6+ of the total population of 2,620,000 or approx 390k listeners during an average quarter hour (6+)?

No, share is a percentage of radio listeners. People with the radio on. That 14.9 share is a rating of about 0.6 or around 15,700 people.

With a population of 2.62 million and a PUMM of 5, there are just 131,000 people on average listening to ALL radio stations throughout the day. WKQC got roughly 15% of that.
