1110 New Format

I remember when WKAT 1360 became "The Talk of Miami". They covered different subjects some political but not one sided as well as lighter fare (similar to "Hello Henry"). Maybe not a giant in the ratings but good enough. They had a loyal following.

How long before people tire of right wing hate talk and search for something encouraging, or do they just want to validate their feelings and listen to the host complain?

Sure we have problems in this country. It comes down to, do you feel the glass is half empty or half full?

The county's records are current. Lance has presented absolutely nothing to back up his assertion that the site is owned by Urban One. He just doesn't want to admit that he's wrong, and neither do you... It's not hard to see what's going on here.
I agree the towers and land don't necessarily have to be owned by Urban 1/Radio 1. Now since the towers are the radiating elements the towers might be considered part of the apparatus.

Maybe you have access to something more accurate, but everything I can find says Lincoln Financial of Naples, FL owns WBT's AM tower site property at 9201 Nations Ford Rd, and the 2026 tax bill is delinquent in the amount of $27,738.44 ($938.01 interest charge). In contrast, 2025's tax bill was paid 10 days after it posted on 9/1/24 by Lincoln Financial Media.

Hmmm, interesting. Wonder if this has something to do with the elongated loop?

That Naples, Florida address is Beasley Media Group. They briefly owned WBT and the other Greater Media stations when they acquired that company, before spinning them off to Entercom/Audacy due to ownership limits.

Good catch, this blind guy missed that.

I'm confused
1) you stated the owner is Lincoln Financial of Naples, FL
2) then you corrected me saying the Naples address is actually Beasley
3) then you stated that the company was spun off to Entercom/Audacy
4) then you ask for apologies.

We all know that Lincoln Financial sold the stations to Beasley, who had to spin off WBT (and others) due to ownership limits. And we also know that Radio One traded Charlotte stations for Philadelphia, St Louis and Washington DC stations. So Radio One owns WBT, etc.
Also, we all know that wheels of government turn slowly. The Mecklenburg County tax information shown online might be out of date. But FIVE years?
The sale to Radio One closed April 20, 2021. IF the WBT Nations Ford Rd tower site was part of the purchase, why doesn't the Mecklenburg County tax bill reflect that?

Numbered portion: Huh? I don't understand all I know about that, in the words of the late Brother Bill Loftis.
Second half: Gotcha and from what I see/know, true.

You can bet whatever programming they place on 1110 it will be low rated after weeks of blowing off their audience with the endless loop promoting 107.9.

I hope Josh, you will admit that WBT leans even more conservative than WFAE leans liberal. Not wishing to get into a political discussion here..

Firstly, if/when the new format comes, it'll take a lot more time to get traction, due to the loop. Addressing the last half of this post, I will say, from/to my ears, what limited time I have heard both outlets, 'BT is conservative and 'FAE is liberal. There ya go, the understatements of the week from me. :D)

FCC ASR Records show a change in ownership from Lincoln Financial Media to a subsidary of Radio One, Charlotte Broadcasting Inc. on April 1, 2021. LFM as a whole was acquired by Greater Media and then absorbed into Beasley which explains why Beasley's address was on the other record, but NO it does not own the land anymore...

@CLTRadio I don't care about you're claiming to be correct based on one record, but attacking other posters when questioned will not be accepted here.

OK guys, is something up? I am hearing a dead carrier now no more loop.

Maybe something's about to happen, huh? Oh, while I'm here, maybe understatement was too strong of a word, earlier. Probably should-a-said facts, instead.

I get what you're saying, and mostly agree. But there's another side to it. As people age their likes sometimes change. A person that's currently right in the middle of the news-talk demo wasn't there years ago. At what stage in their life did they start listening to WBT? Fast forward to now, wouldn't there be a group of listeners that are gradually becoming more likely to tune to a news-talk outlet? Of course it doesn't happen overnight. They probably discover the station because of traffic or weather reports, or something else the primarily music outlets don't provide. But as they grow older they find themselves coming back more and more, and enjoying programs they never would have enjoyed when they were younger.
Don't misunderstand me, I'm not saying that everybody becomes a news-talk listener as they get older. And I'm not saying only old people tune in.
But if the news-talk outlet is only on AM, that potential listener might never even find it.
If your statement is 100% correct, they might as well leave it on AM until the last boomer dies, and then shut the transmitters off. I think the move to FM is actually to bring in new listeners, but certainly not in the short-term. Rome wasn't built in a day.
The way it happened for me is there wasn't any music to listen to in certain areas.

Well most talk radio nationwide tends to be conservative talk, with perhaps the exception of NPR. And the morning show on WBT tends to be middle of the road, without any specific political agenda. And the hosts have said they want to appeal to all potential listeners, rather than one specific political persuasion. And WBT remains the primary radio source for news and weather information in Charlotte, as well as traffic. While I don't necessarily agree with the viewpoint of most of the hosts, I still listen to their discussion of current events and politics. I remember Vince Coakley from his days as a news anchor on Channel 9-WSOC-TV.
I remember WBT on 1110 having a liberal host. John Hancock maybe?
