Las Vegas The Vibe has joined The Revolution: ANCO acquires Heftel’s Highway Radio Stations.

Spending most of my time in Northwest Valley I think I heard some multipath interference on 105.7 which doesn't put out much signal NW from the Strat.

Yea it definitely looks directional away from the Northwest.

Back on topic though, we'll have to see how Vibe changes after the switch over. I think the Revolution is better but it remains to be seen how much of an impact a rimshot can make in the Vegas market

Yea Would be great to see and listen.
I guess just 99.7 will keep the dance format, and maybe 98.1/98.9, though also known as Vibe if they will keep their CHR/AC Highway Vibe Format & Brand, or if all 3 stations will become a simulcast again.

170 booster watts is still just a small weak band-aid and small portion of their 8400 watt signal. Maybe 99.7 can upgrade their booster, it would be nice if they can add another or move their booster to the Eastern LV Valley, as 93.5 & 94.5 have done with their signals. (doubtful if too far away from the main Mountain Pass signal & 60 dbu contour.)

Would be nice if they can move from Mountain Pass to Henderson (Arden) from Class B to Class C Territory (C2 Equivalent), maybe if they get a waiver from 2nd adjacent KRGT on 99.3. I know that 107.5 KXTE was recently (or still is) in the process of moving signal from Potosi to Henderson, with a weaker signal, as it was broadcasting from there last summer, and probably still is, calling it an AUX site, and was absent on the dial from their main COL city of Pahrump.

Not sure about KHYZ moving to Henderson NV as is with KRGT as a C2 also transmitting from there, but maybe they can move there if they're allowed to switch frequencies to 99.9., 3rd adjacent to KRGT and KXQQ. Also assuming LV is far enough away from other stations on adjacent channels, such as 100.1 in Pahrump (KHWG) and Kingman AZ (KGMN).

Those spacings are governed by section 73.207 of the FCC rules, which you can easily find with a 10-second search.

Stations can't grant waivers to those spacing rules.

It's fine to work out fantasy scenarios here, but only when you start with a basic understanding of what the rules are, and the rules limit 99.7 to being where it is in relation to 99.3, though they allow the use of an on-channel booster. And because the spacing rules for second and third adjacent spacings are the same, moving 99.7 to 99.9 gets you nowhere with respect to 99.3 (or 100.5).

I'm very happy to bat these ideas around with anyone who's actually willing to learn what the rules are and how they work.

Thanks for the info & update.

Wasn't sure if making any changes (options) was worth an effort otherwise why protect other stations via Directional Antennas, (when necessary) ... I guess only if that's what's required. 🤷‍♂️

Keep in mind I live an an area of the country with some strange station (grandfathered) spacings / allocations, such as 2nd adjacent full power stations WTPT/WFBC, WXRC/WHQC, and Co-channel WKQC/WNOK. Just as bad if not worse than what i grew up with in NJ where many NY & Philly stations are too close for comfort (100.3 & 101.1).

One other very good reason for 99.7 mHz not moving to 99.9 mHz that @fybush doesn't mention is the Class C (or is it C1 or C2) station licensed to St. George, UT at 99.9 mHz. If memory serves, that St. George station location is close enough to prevent any Las Vegas move-ins, even as a rimshot, on that frequency.

Didn't think about that .. KONY

I was just wondering if 99.7 could somehow upgrade (at all) from their current booster wattage or from the same location, as there are a few weak spots as I mentioned with their current setup.

KONY. It's protected contour extends to between Mesquite and Overton.

They have until 4/29 to consummate the sale or either file for an extension or non-consummation of the sale.

I've been looking on FCC.today and can't see anything filed. They're still identifying as Vibe. Not being a broadcaster, I could have missed something. Or could they possibly keep the Vibe branding and carry on as they have been under the new owners?

I've heard them identify as the 'All new Vibe'. Not heard a callsign yet but I mainly listen in the background and could easily miss it.

They have been the "all new Vibe" for three years. Don't expect much of a change in the station, and expect no changes in the facility. It's fine how it is.

How do you work that out? The station has been sold. Meaning sooner rather than later it will become The Revolution. Granted still dance music but we'll definitely have change

I can't figure out why the Black Mountain TX is literally directional towards KONY 99.9

Why can't they beam Northwest? Trying to play around with the Radio Land app but it's not throwing up any other stations that I can see

Why not put the translator on Frenchman Mountain, home of that KAWZ 10 watt translator on 90.1 K211DC. it seems to be a great line of sight option on the east side of the valley. Last year I heard that 10 watt signal almost 50 miles away in Indian Springs! kinda surprised other stations don't move there too, seems like a better central location vs Black Mountain or Potosi where almost all other Vegas signals are...
