God’s Property & Kirk Franklin “Stomp”(1997)

This was a crossover urban gospel song that was always on the radio the late 90’s. It had heavy airplay on KJLH and The Beat during that time. Power 106 played it in mix for a short time in the summer of 1997. Hell it was even played on KIIS FM 102.7 at one point from reading Billboard Airplay Monitor.

Ugggh. Hated that song back then, and still hate it now. I always felt Kirk was trying too hard to sound hip and hardcore to the hip-hop audience, so much so that he had Cheryl "Salt" James drop a weak rap verse.

I'm not into gospel music at all, but I would take Kirk Franklin and the Family, DC Talk, or even a Carman song over GP.
