Here is the Daily Show doing a tribute Segment when Stephen Colbert was with them prior to Colbert Report and Late Show.
Why is 11 years enough? Kimmel and fallon arent being bought out when they easily could be. And with kimmel there is more reason for that to happen then colbert.Let’s assume Colbert signed that 5 year deal. I doubt he would have lasted that whole time without the current ownership buying him out or finding some out clause. Even if he was around they would have made it hell for him to do his show. 11 years was a good run, not Letterman tenure but it was probably enough.
I think this show and fighting the president took a lot out of him. Honestly while his show was unique it was never as good as Letterman’s Late Show. Maybe that’s my age talking. Why is 11 years enough? Kimmel and fallon arent being bought out when they easily could be. And with kimmel there is more reason for that to happen then colbert.

How is that relevant? The fact is their Sunday games far outdraw those final Colbert ratings, which was the question. Whether a window is split widely among regionals or more national is irrelevant. The average numbers are in the tens of millions on a Sunday afternoon.Does the NFL give a break down of every individual game rating.
The NFL is likely averaging out the slate into a national number. For ad sales that’s probably all they need as all the national spots run for every game. How is that relevant? I’m obviously squarely in the camp that CBS made a wretched decision about Colbert. But the numbers are what they are for the NFL.
I assume that you're referring to the replacement programming in the late-night slot, not CBS's overall schedule. In their overall schedule, they do have prime-time programs that get those sorts of numbers, and they have sports broadcasts that do more.CBS won’t see those numbers anytime soon.
A CBS spokesperson said in a statement that the “Only in Monroe” episode featuring Colbert was “financed and produced by CBS Studios and was posted on Stephen Colbert’s YouTube channel in collaboration with Monroe Community Media and ‘The Late Show’s’ YouTube channels.”
