The other day, I uploaded an updated version of my September 2001
critique of radio coverage after September 11:

What did you think of 9/11 radio coverage at the time?

Hi 954 - That was a pretty good article that you wrote there. I just read it for the first time. I pretty much agree with your thoughts on it all.

Recalling the minutes, hours, and days following the tragedies of that day I remember that although I personally wanted to get all of the news and information that I could get to figure out what went wrong on that day I also wanted an occasional escape from it all as well. I could not get that escape because radio was airing television. I had to escape briefly in order to take it all in, catch my breath, and clear my mind per se. I remember slipping in some music CDs into my car's stereo as a temporary distraction.

It took us awhile to recover (and get smart), and now we look back at the events five years later.
