“Birthday Cake” – Rihanna and Chris Brown

The local CHR, Kiss 95.3 WSKX is playing the new track from Rihanna and Chris Brown. Are any other CHRs giving it significant play yet? (It might be a bit racy for some conservative areas with the sexual innuendo.)

Also Rihanna sounds great these days solo or with her parings with others (Jay Z, Calvin Harris, Coldplay, Drake, etc.) but why would she do a song with Chris Brown? It can't be for just the $$. ???

Ike and Tina Turner all over again.

Still can't believe they gave this ****** a second chance and Rhianna is stupid to even do this. Yes, stupid! Two thumbs down.

There is NO EXCUSE for abuse and it should never be rewarded to abusers.

I don't mean to be rude, but...why should you care what they do with their personal relationship? Unless you know Rhianna personally, why even make that statement. It is obvious that she does not care what anyone thinks and she will do what she wants. Being a sports fan, I think I look at things differently due to being able to separate the person from their talent. Some of the greatest talents in music, acting, sports, etc are not the type of people you would ever want to associate with. The "douchiness" of some may be what has made them sucessful in their field of endeavor.

Getting back to the topic, the song might be a little too racy for mainstream CHR. It was probably intended as an Urban release single as having separate releases for CHR and Urban seems to be the thing to do now. And it makes good business sense.

WSKX is Premium Choice Rhythmic being fed through CC, Birthday Cake was a hit on Rhythmic CHR, doesn't really count as a CHR playing it :)

Mediabase has WSKX as a Top 40 format, but does undoubtedly lean Rhythmic. They play stuff like Birthday Cake, Drank In My Cup, Heart Attack, etc and ignore CHR hits like I Won't Give Up, Too Close, and Everybody Talks. They are the classic example of CC running a rhythmic CHR along with protecting a HAC (WERZ) in the same market.

It is Premium Choice though. The jocks are out of state. Nobody is programming that station locally.
