Hey, at least that shell of its own self has left ABC. Hoorah! Now let's see if ABC will have some high-quality programming to replace it (especially in spring 2023).

With OTA and cable TV on the decline, I'd expect more reality garbage, and cheaper to produce than DTWS was.

I knew ABC and Hulu were supposed to get the new LA Law reboot edition. But not sure if that's a factor in moving DWTS to Disney+.

As mentioned somewhere above, Monday Night Football is returning to ABC full time for the Fall months as part of the ESPN 'Megacast' and most likely more Batchelor and Bachelorette for the other months.

Hulu is the other Disney owned TV app that DWTS can go to if it fails on Disney+. But then again Disney has the final say on DWTS broadcast contract.

If the Disney Plus experiment fails, I suspect that's it. It's not worth, at this time, trying to revive it on a second streaming platform. Now, give it a little "hiatus" of a few years, and then revive it? That I wouldn't rule out. Nostalgia even for things of a recent vintage is a helluva drug.

It can be a 2 hour show with more content, or a streamlined 90 minute one (can't see them keeping the traditional 2 hour show with 32 minutes of ads plugged in). Everyone being able to watch and vote at the same time, much more tie-ins with social media. I am more than curious to see how this all comes out!

I agree, but at the same time there are a lot of "ifs" built into this. If enough people subscribe to the service to make it worth it financially and otherwise (past the initial season which will most likely be used as a barometer) and if DWTS gets enough actual "stars" and well-known competitors to make people want to tune in and if enough people care enough about DWTS to watch and participate, etc.

If they get enough participation and can make it work financially, maybe it'll be back for a second season and beyond on Disney+. If no, well it did have a decent multi-year run on ABC and was an interesting experiment on Disney+...and even if it doesn't last, there will at least maybe be some lessons learned.

Just like American Idol when they decided to go live everywhere (including Alaska and Hawaii), allowing us to watch and vote simultaneously.

This drama surrounding 'Dancing With the Stars' is getting intense.

On August 3, the former ABC personality made a plea to fans to follow the show over to the streaming service when she opened up on her Facebook page about “taking a break away from social media.”

Reacting to her honest words, folks shared their own heartfelt messages about what it’ll be like for them to miss out on the new season, featuring Mirrorball champion Alfonso Ribeiro as a new co-host alongside Tyra Banks.

“I also wish you the very best. I have watched DWTS from day one. I will not be subscribing to Disney + and it is terribly disappointing and very sad. I will miss it so much and I think it will be losing many [longtime] viewers,” one person wrote. “I am so happy for you that you are on a beautiful journey, but this will be the end for many of us DWTS family,” another added. “I’ve watched since day one. It and this will be the first season I’m not watching. And it breaks my heart … Hopefully I will see lots of clips and things online. Hope you have a great season Carrie Ann!” a different fan said.

One of the biggest names among the celebrities is Charli D'Amelio, the TikTok dancer. Her mother, Heidi D'Amelio, who is a social media personality, will be joining her in the competition.

Are they forgetting Ribeiro hosts "America's Funniest Home Videos", which is one of ABC's most popular shows? Bergeron did the same and hosted this show too.
