“Dancing With The Stars” moves its mirrorball to Disney+

Hey, at least that shell of its own self has left ABC. Hoorah! Now let's see if ABC will have some high-quality programming to replace it (especially in spring 2023).
If there is High Quality shows then its Disney's other app Hulu that is getting them along with FX. I don't know about ABC Specifically though.

Here is one from the archives before Tucker Carlson was known for his rants related to ones that resulted in Lawsuits over the 2020 election Tucker Carlson made an appearance on Dancing with the stars. In this clip Tucker was removed from CNN at the time of the release.

Probably in the future, even America's Funniest Home Videos will end up on Disney+!

So I'm guessing that ABC may want to move family friendly programming to the streaming service so it can focus on mature programs like Grey's Anatomy, The Rookie, and so on. Most of the content on the streamer are TV-PG, but there are some that are TV-14, like the She-Hulk episode I was watching today.

Keep in mind that some other networks have been moving away from original programming completely as the audience and/or advertisers aren't there to make them worthwhile to produce. NBC is discussing pulling the plug on network programming from 10 - 11 p.m., which was once considered the "3rd hour of prime time". Other companies have had good luck offering original programming on their streaming platforms...and it's my guess that fans of the shows you mentioned might appreciate having them available via streaming so they can catch up on missed episodes, or "binge watch" several episodes at a time, rather than only being able to see them once per week, only at the time they're offered for viewing per the TV Guide.

I don't know about specifics ABC wants to go but Disney has been hyping up Hulu for some time for "Mature Programs" and FX Shows to be released on Hulu for some time. Yes this is in association with the Disney Bundle that's been discussed here.

There are shows and movies that carry a warning they are for "Mature Audiences". I don't know. Some of that content seems to be for immature people.

Disney+ isn't rated, so we will probably never know.

35 minutes as I type this, the show is moving along at a much faster pace. Apparently, it will be a live 90 minute show every Monday. No ads and no padding, just the dancing.
I just watched the first episode. Main issue I see so far is their timing. Even though they're on Disney+ streaming, they seem to be trying to stick to a certain time schedule. They spent gobs of time bantering with the various participants toward the beginning of the show, to the point where they didn't have time to interview some of the "starts" before they were judged and at one point one of the judges wasn't even able to give his critique and they kept signaling to them that they were out of time, but yet Tyra Banks always got to say her filler BS which adds nothing to the actual competition. I'm guessing it's a different for them this season since they don't have commercial breaks now, and since there are no commercials they don't really have time to "huddle" every several minutes to discuss the timing or pace of the show; it all now moves quite quickly.

This makes me sad. Just like RadioDiscussions has DavidEduardo, TheBigA, Kelly A, Gr8oldies. AbrahamJSimpson and maybe a few others, every show, program and even website needs it's share of crotchety older "curmudgeons" like Len Goodman to make sure the others don't get too fancy for their own pants, and to keep things in check.

Tyra is leaving the ballroom…
Thankful to read this. IMO she didn't seem understand the role of a host and often tried too hard to position herself as central to the show rather than the 'dancers', the 'stars' or even the judges. She wore gaudy, over the top costumes and outfits and usually had at least one wardrobe change per show, she inserted her own comments and opinions too often and rarely did I ever read or hear a positive comment about her on that particular show. Even the link in only1moore's post above has 8 comments in reply, all of them critical of Tryra or happy to see her go, but none of them support her or are positive. I like Tryra, but she wasn't the right fit for that particular gig.

The other question is, who will they get to fill the "cranky but honest old man" role now that Len Goodman also announced his exit from the show as well?
