“Game of Love” Singer Wayne Fontana Dies at 74

Fontana was a one-hit wonder, but his guitar player was Eric Stewart, who was part of 10cc in the 70s, and then went on to play with Paul McCartney for many years. Eric's lead guitar riff at the start of Game Of Love is epic.

BTW Game of Love was written by Cliff Ballard, whose other notable hit was "You're No Good" for Linda Ronstadt. I think they're both in the same key.

He was a one-hit wonder, but the Mindbenders went on to have at least one more hit without him, "Groovy Kind of Love."

Must not have been any bad blood between them, because I saw him sing "Groovy Kind of Love" with them on one of those PBS specials.

And apparently, Brian Epstein was their manager. Saw him in the video on the above link.

Remember I mentioned Eric Stewart earlier? He sang the lead vocal on that song.

"Groovy" was written by Carol Bayer Sager when she was still in high school. She went on to write dozens of hits.
