“Golden Memories of Radio”

Bay Area Broadcast Legends
to Present “Golden Memories of Radio”

The Bay Area Broadcast Legends “Old-Time Radio Players” will present “GOLDEN MEMORIES OF RADIO” to the residents of The Sequoias - Portola Valley on Friday evening, January 25, 2008, at 7:15 p.m. The event will be held at the Valley Presbyterian Church, 945 Portola Road, Woodside, and is free and open to the public.

“The Old Time Radio Players” and technical crew, some of whom worked on the original 30’s, 40’s and 50’s programs, will re-create examples of radio newscasts, kids’ shows, daytime Soap Operas, bloopers, commercials, jingles plus prime time greats such as “The Bickersons” and “The Lone Ranger.” It’s a nostalgic presentation that will take the audience back to a time when “radio was king” and the “theatre of the mind” captured our imaginations.

The Bay Area Broadcast Legends was founded about 25 years ago and boasts 225 members -- radio and television professionals who have worked in the broadcast industry for at least twenty years. The group’s mission is to “have fun with colleagues from the years when Broadcasting was fun!” That mission is accomplished through quarterly luncheon programs and other group activities.

“The Old Time Radio Players” serve as the Legends’ community outreach arm, bringing the fun and excitement of live radio to appreciative audiences throughout the Bay Area. The cast includes: Ken Ackerman, Bob Burrell, Bob Carson, Peter Cleaveland, Bruce Jenett, Fred LaCosse, Terry Lowry, Dan Odum, Dave Parker, Joan Parker, Duncan Robertson and Ed Vasgersian.

Hey, bringing your show down to my neck of the woods! Excellent - I'll see you there.
