I have honestly never listened/heard Billy on WSIX, so I cannot or will not judge his talent or ability. I will say that it does make sense that WSIX has moved names that are known by listeners into the spots and will be doing live and local again. Short of Larry King, who would be a better choice? Seriously, this talk of bringing Carl P and Coyote back to replace Gerry is flat out not a valid option for 100's of reasons. Billy knows the terrain at SIX and maybe, just maybe, he and WSIX know that trying to be another Gerry or the next Gerry is an impossible option that will implode, so this approach may be the best and most logical plan...bring in a known, comfortable person that listeners will not have to try out and trash and just accept that there were Gerry fans vs. the station/format fans that wouldn't stay unless it was Gerry.
Also, for those of you who know Dean Warfield --- the full time gig is great news and well deserved. Dean - you've certainly earned and deserve this mid-day spot. I know you will miss playing Red, Red Wine every shift, but you've been through some rough waters over the years and stayed the course. Dues paid sans 1000X. Class act, all the way.
Go get 'em Billy and Dean. These are your shoes now. Don't worry about filling anything. Just be yourselves and be glad Buddy Sadler is retired....had to Buddy. I've been to nice, too long.
Anybody wanna start back on RQQ just for old time sake? Geez. Talk about takin' all the fun out of trashing radio. Somebody needs to ruin something real fast.
