“I think everyone is just going to be stunned by what comes next at WSIX.”

"Country music returns the 26th, but until then, enjoy the Big 98 Country Christmas."
This is the sort of thing that makes me think a flip to FM Talk would be unlikely for WSIX. If Clear Channel intended to do that, there wouldn't be much to gain by deceiving the listeners; it's not like a competitor could beat them to the punch on a flip since CC has local rights to the big three shows (Rush/Hannity/Beck). There is also the issue of CC dropping a legacy country format from the center of the country music biz; it would seem counter-intuitive for CC to do that. Unless billing is a problem for the station (and why would it be?), I don't see it happening -- at least not now.

Okay...now Dean has re-posted it to Facebook and confirmed that he will be doing middays, which would move the out-of-market-voicetracker Billy Greenwood either to another timeslot, or off the station altogether.

I heard Dean filling in on 92.9's morning show just last week. He's been at just about every station in Nashville! I always like hearing him on country stations so I'm glad he'll be back on 98.

Sounds like the person who said “I think everyone is just going to be stunned by what comes next at WSIX” was being sarcastic. Give the new team a chance.

I think most of us knew the stunned comment was going to be anti-climatic. I never saw the actual article, but it is amazing what these boards can create.

We're leaving someone very important out --- Chris Romer --- hope you are well and Merry Christmas.

Billy --- like Chris --- stick with us on here. You will be just fine.

This move strikes me to be very much like another time-honored Music Row tradition..."the sacrificial first single. In days not so long ago, it was commonplace for labels to come with a single they didn't expect to hit because...well...first-timers didn't hit.

This could be the same concept. In fairness, credit where it's due. Karla Lawson is a class act and always adds great content. I'll leave others to pass judgement on Greenwood....but I will echo statements made by the P.D....it's gonna be tougher than a Western Sizzlin' steak to replace House.

Still, one would have thought that given the amount of advance notice, they could have come up with something a little more...substantial. If I'm the competition...I'm smilin'. 8)

Greenwood did mornings at WQDR in Raleigh for a while. I though he was a good combination
of a great voice and delivery, and entertaining content. I wouldn't judge him on his voice-tracked shows.
He's solid "live".

I don't know who this Bat Fastard is...but he's making a lot of sense.

I have honestly never listened/heard Billy on WSIX, so I cannot or will not judge his talent or ability. I will say that it does make sense that WSIX has moved names that are known by listeners into the spots and will be doing live and local again. Short of Larry King, who would be a better choice? Seriously, this talk of bringing Carl P and Coyote back to replace Gerry is flat out not a valid option for 100's of reasons. Billy knows the terrain at SIX and maybe, just maybe, he and WSIX know that trying to be another Gerry or the next Gerry is an impossible option that will implode, so this approach may be the best and most logical plan...bring in a known, comfortable person that listeners will not have to try out and trash and just accept that there were Gerry fans vs. the station/format fans that wouldn't stay unless it was Gerry.

Also, for those of you who know Dean Warfield --- the full time gig is great news and well deserved. Dean - you've certainly earned and deserve this mid-day spot. I know you will miss playing Red, Red Wine every shift, but you've been through some rough waters over the years and stayed the course. Dues paid sans 1000X. Class act, all the way.

Go get 'em Billy and Dean. These are your shoes now. Don't worry about filling anything. Just be yourselves and be glad Buddy Sadler is retired....had to Buddy. I've been to nice, too long.

Anybody wanna start back on RQQ just for old time sake? Geez. Talk about takin' all the fun out of trashing radio. Somebody needs to ruin something real fast.

I worked with Dean at Citadel while he was working out his non-compete. Dude was running the board for Rick 'n Bubba and doing production, and never once complained about it. Classy guy. I loved working with him. Very happy that he's back at his old stomping grounds.

That said, at 10AM on January 3, I'm going to be very disappointed if Billy's show transitions into Dean's show with something other than a Billy Dean song.

i was so stunned, i passed out. or was that fell asleep? it's hard to discern between the two with news as colossal as this

RadioZack: Ditto on the Billy Dean song.In fact, bet that BD would be good on a 30 second transitional SHOW.

Bette: Copy that. But read between the lines. Don't be surprised if you see some juggling down the road. 6 mos.to a year. I think the stunning part is still waiting in the wings. in a way that could shake up another station, or 2. Dont believe that dust has settled yet.

Cumulus may be buying Citadel, so wait a minute..
