“New” translator granted on 107.9 FM in Manhattan!

The station is still going by "Oldies 107.9, WOLD" and is still on translators W300CZ (107.9 Ewansville) and W236CT (95.1 Edison), and WPRB-HD3. The audio on 95.1 is about a minute ahead of 107.9 and 103.3-HD3.

What format would be on 107.9?
Since it is technically a change of frequency for the 106.3 translator, I would expect that it will be the existing Spanish-language religious format carried by WJDM/1520, as that is what appears in the FCC database as the originating station.

Has the reception changed for Connecticut's WEBE-FM 107.9? They were side mounted on the United Illuminating striped smokestack in Bridgeport for years. I think they're coming from Trumbull, CT these days.

I doubt it. The translator would eventually be sold and the new owner can pick another originating station. It’ll most likely be another HD2. Translators are effectively low power commercial stations because they can translate an HD2. Since so few people have HD radios, it’s effectively a new station

It has been at least 10-15 years since I have been able to pick up WEBE in northern NJ. There are so many pirates on 107.9 these days.

All I am saying is that until they file a change of originating station (which becomes part of the license) we have to presume status quo.

W300EI has supposedly resumed operations. Anyone know what’s on the 107.9 translator or if it’s even on the air yet?

Right now it's dead air and radio-locator has it linked to WBLS which coincidentally has dead air on it's HD2 channel.

The resumption of operations is for the 106.3 facility via STA running one watt. A license to cover for the move to 107.9 has not yet been filed. Had W292DV not resumed operations before May 1, its license would have expired.

The CP for 107.9 has 1530 WJDM as its parent signal and the STA notes it will rebroadcast 1310 WXMC. While that can be changed with a quick FCC filing, I am not sure where Radio-Locator is getting WBLS from. But based on the people involved in the stations, I'd expect Radio Zindagi on 107.9 when it does launch.

I would politely suggest that radio-locator is not the most accurate source of information.

Both the Cavell Mertz search engine (FCCInfo.com) and Michi's database at RECNet (FCCdata.org) are updated regularly from the FCC records. Looking up W292DV in either brings up the CP and -- as Lance said -- shows WJDM as the originating station.

As near as I can tell, the WBLS entry is based on what was on the 2011 license, which was modified to WVIP March 23, 2012. WJDM has been specified in the records since August 9, 2021. My guess is that radio-locator doesn't recognize CP grants that only show a change in the originating station. Which, as I said, makes them not the most accurate source.

From what I recall W292DV initially translated WLTW-HD2 for a week. It had a wheel-of-formats with a different iHeartRadio station featured each day until the translator was forced to shut down for interference.

Now with one watt in Brooklyn, 106.3 is drowned out by the multiple pirate stations on the same frequency
