“Retro” moves from WXXL-HD3 to WRUM-HD3 and 97.9 FM

Turns out as of today (7/18/2024), iHeartMedia Orlando decided to swap the formats of both WXXL and WRUM’s respective HD3 subchannels. The WRSO simulcast is moved from WRUM-HD3 to WXXL-HD3, while “Retro” is moved from WXXL-HD3 to WRUM-HD3 as “Retro 97.9.” The 97.9 FM translator continues to simulcast WRUM-HD3, which switched from the WRSO (AM 810) simulcast to “Retro 97.9.”

Sigh..... Listening to 106.7 HD-3, still running sweepers for 810 & 97.9. Just ran the legal ID for 810 & 97.9, nothing for 106.7 HD-3. They never even ran the legal for 100.3 HD-3 when it was on there. Aren't they supposed to?

However, on 100.3-HD3 when it switched from the AM 810 simulcast to “Retro 97.9”, they did identify both the station and the 97.9 FM translator.

Yes, they recently updated the top-of-the-hour legal ID on AM 810 WRSO to identify both the station and WXXL’s HD3 subchannel.

So is The Beat moving to 101.1?
Thats what its sounding like
I would like to believe the 100.3 & 106.7 HD subchannel / (97.9) translator swap is all that's happening.
Now even though the urban HD-subchannel/translator beat (no pun intended) WJRR overall in the last 2 books, I sincerely doubt the geniuses over on Maitland Blvd would blow up a heritage rocker.
But then again this is (still) cheap channel you're dealing with.
I do recall a number of years ago they blew up an established oldies station to put on what was I believe the first full powered FM Spanish music station here. That was and still is WRUM.

If "The Beat" is going to move to a bigger stick soon, then the geniuses at Audacy should have "beat" (pun intended) them to the punch by flipping 101.9FM back to "102 Jamz" immediately after the "Fly" got swatted a few months ago. Alas, I am not a businessman. I am only a spectator, & just a local Syndicated Radio Show Producer / On-Air Personality / Mix DJ. What do I know? 😅

I could see Real Radio 104.1 or WJRR being moved to up to104.5! WJRR does really good on the coast, and so does Real Radio 104.1 but yet again I could see XL moving down to 104.1, and Real Radio moving up to 104.5, allowing the Beat to move up to 106.7. As for the 104.5 signal I could still see Real Radio or WJRR still doing good on 104.5, but would that open the door for a possible simulcast from 95.1 in Melbourne if XL moved down to 104.1? As for WJRR I think they should move away from Active Rock, and move more towards Classic Rock, or Classic Alternative for now.

It's impressive watching this thread to see who reads Domain Insight, who is unable to comprehend the fact and opinion part of it, and who is just making up stuff based on what others are alluding to :)

I'm of the belief that more changes are coming in Orlando, how big I cannot ascertain yet...
I can only speculate, as I am one who does not subscribe, & cannot see the "premium content". 😇
If the image posted on that Domain Insight link is true, & not just clickbait, & 104.5 The Beat does have changes to its signal, format, or brand, I can wait. No need for me to subscribe to "news" that we will all eventually find out about for free. Plus, I enjoy discussing these kinds of events with my fellow radio aficionados here with potential scenarios, whether it be made up or not. 😁

WTKS 104.1 "Real Radio" is definitely not getting downgraded to a translator on 104.5.

I still remember the stick I saw on a toilet in the Transmitter room when I worked on Pluckebaum road in 2005, for "WRKT 1300 and 104.1"

There was also wiring still in the phone room for 102.7 WHKR when they were in that building too.

You can do your own searches to see what iHeart is up to. This seems to be what they’ve done as of recent 😉😉😉

Interesting list of domains. One that cannot pertain to Orlando is Power105.3 because Orlando has a Class C on 105.1. (WOMX "Mix 105.1")

I have no idea how to search for domain registries. You can message me how, so I would be on the same page as you, & other people on this message board on the next set of domain registrations. Thanks for sharing the list. "Dr. Pepper Champion 104.5FM" it will be. 😁
Has "Domain Insight" ever been wrong with their clickbait images before the premium content?

@DJ Mo, I've been reporting on potential format changes via domain registrations for 20 years now. While it's not a perfect source as many companies make last minute changes and register decoys, in Orlando alone I have reported on the following changes ahead of time just since 2018...

103.1 The Wolf to Fly
95.3 to El Zol
96.5 to Exitos
107.3 to WDBO
102.5 to La Z
And why 101.9 was forced to drop "Alt" for "FM 101.9"

And your point about not knowing how to do so, is why we charge a very low amount for it. Also those premium subscriptions are also what keeps RadioInsight.com and now RadioDiscussions.com alive.
