“The Cooper Lawrence Show” to launch in July

For Immediate Release “The Cooper Lawrence Show” to launch in JulyNew FM talk show will join Bob & Sheri, Matt & Ramona on The Link lineup at WLNK/CharlotteNew York, NY – June 7, 2006 – New York radio personality, writer and television star Cooper Lawrence will be a new addition to Lincoln Financial Media’s The Link format, which anchors on WLNK-FM/Charlotte. “The Cooper Lawrence Show” will air nationwide weeknights live from 7:00 -10:00 p.m., starting July 10, 2006. Cooper Lawrence has been part of Elvis Duran’s morning zoo on Z-100/New York and has held on-air positions at Long Island’s WLIR-FM. This, combined with her experience in developmental psychology, writing books and magazine columns and producing Joan Rivers’ talk show in the 1990s will be brought to bear in the new show, featuring interactive talk and topics. “Cooper has really got the credentials for this new format,” said Rick Jackson, senior vice president and general manager of WLNK/WBT in Charlotte and The Link network. “She’s funny, engaging and has this unique background of radio, pop culture and psychology. She won’t be the next radio shrink, but more like a radio girlfriend for The Link’s FM-based female-skewed audience. ” “My show is going to be smart talk about real life,” said Cooper Lawrence. “We want to hear dirty little secrets and we want to tell them; we want to complain about relationships and mortgages, and we want to have real conversations. That’s where my show will go.” X Radio handles syndication for Lincoln Financial Media (formerly Jefferson-Pilot), and The Link format. “There is growing interest from operators seeking a unique format position in crowded radio markets,” said Kirk Stirland, president of X Radio. “Cooper’s nighttime alternative now rounds out the menu for the format, joining Bob & Sheri and Matt & Ramona, plus shows from ABC and Greenstone. Owners now have great options to take the leap into FM talk for women.” # # #About Cooper LawrenceCooper Lawrence (www.cooperradio.com) is a radio personality, writer and television host who is completing her doctorate in psychology at Fordham University in New York. She writes a monthly column for CosmoGirl! Magazine, where she is The Love Doctor, and has just completed her second book “Been There, Done That, Kept the Jewelry” (by Adams Media/Polka Dot Press). Cooper is currently shooting a new show for the Discovery Channel that debunks scientific myth and legend, airing in September.

Who?This looks like SPAM. Tig, do you have some connection to this program? If you are a listener or a fan, I'd be much more interested in knowing why you like this person so much. If you have a connection to the show, please take out an ad in the trades and put your release on the PR Newswire. That's not what this board is for; it's for people to talk about radio. If this is a local show (the press release is not clear on that), this really belongs on the Charlotte board.Cooper Lawrence is female? Why would any parents name a little girl "Cooper?" What is this show? Another chick show with advice on relationships and sex? It's a pretty bad press release. I guess we are supposed to be impressed with "Cooper" but it gives us very little feel for the nature of the show. The phrase "complain about relationships" suggests an extended radio bitchfest. "Dirty little secrets" suggests trash radio (I guess Jerry Springer already has a radio gig and wasn't available for this one).

This is a legit Press Release. This fits in with the sites mission to discuss and inform about radio news. Cooper Lawrence's new show is going to be marketed as a nationwide Talk Radio for Women program.
