“The Valley’s #1 Hit Music Station” slogan

KZON/101.5 JamZ no longer seems to be saying “The Valley’s #1 Hit Music Station” on the air. (Although it still appears on www.kzon.com). Was there a legal battle between JamZ and KKFR/Power 98.3, with KKFR winning the rights? Or did KZON just decide to stop using it?

At least part of the time, they are now saying “101.5 JamZ, the Most Music” – ironically (or perhaps not), KKFR positioned itself as “The Most Music, Power 92” back in 1991.

Re: “The Valley’s #1 Hit Music Station” slogan

I was wondering when someone would notice because I've been almost dying to say something since yesterday... and if I were able to make it home or to a computer yesterday, I would have mentioned it..

KZON is now playing MORE MUSIC with 18 JamZ in a row.
I'm not too sure if the "more music" is to be literally taken in only one context, but I do like how it is sounding, especially when it is mostly all songs that I already like being played in that 18 jamz in a row. In a way, the station almost seems brand new at times the way they are sounding right now, and I think I like it better without the slogan. Just a quick "101.5 JamZ" then back to the hitz. It's a bit similar to the "second coming" of 103.9, when they didn't really have a slogan, but just said "103.9 The Party; It's Your Music"

This 18 jamz is very beneficial in the mornings too, because this morning's breakfast beatdown mix was super-hype with 18 songs thrown in it. Getting on the light rail and having it strand me in Tempe because no one ever said they stop running and shut down at MILL Ave. when going from Mesa to Phoenix and there's no more that go to Phoenix after 11:20pm, turned out to be beneficial because I ended up sleeping at my sister's place and I'm glad I woke up early today out of all days to hear the mix on the way home. If this is the way things are going to be done for now on, then I'll be listening a bit more. There needs to be more mixes like the one in the morning, and the ones between 1-3am on Saturday nights.

Future Flavaz is great, and there also needs to be a mixtrickery hour every weekday evening, along with a one hour 5 o clock mix with 18 jamz in a row and a 12 o clock back in the day rhythmic hits mix. If it could be like this, then that would make my 18 in a row station even better. The more music weekends are good, too.

I don't know anything about the legal rights of the situation, but from what I saw (ironically) yesterday as I was walking down 12 street and Indian School was that one of the JamZ vehicles still has the old "blazin" slogan on it...
