10 AM on 96.9, and...

Mike started getting some okay numbers but I don't know how profitable it was. Pretty much
no staff to pay, other than maybe someone to program songs in and someone else at Ent.
probably did promotion, website... It was
necessary for them to kill it off to get EEI to FM. Otherwise Ent. could have kept it on
and not expected much for it. WHBA (now WEDX) not a full market signal. It was var-hits/
adult hits till they found their format.

Could attract quite a few listeners but not the best demo...?

It only failed because Entercom thought it could make more money with putting WEEI on the FM, because of the competition with 98.5. Clear Channel, I do not know what their intentions were. I think that they just did adult hits as placer because they got the station so quickly until they came up with a real format that they wanted to do instead.

what time do we all think the next format change will happen for the multi personality wtkk?? 12,3,5??

Not sure, but I'm spreading the fun news throughout Twitter. A great way to spend a crappy day.

They Want to keep us guessing how many domains left?? They registered shot remember that .

They registered what?? ???

It's the weekend, maybe they expect more people are listening so they'll stick with it a bit longer than the other two. I have the opportunity to listen all day today which is something that doesn't happen during the week. And I'm still loving it. I WANT my Mike-FM. ;D

Alot I meant to say dam autocorrect. I notice a few songs tend to stay on longer then others, like I know there s something going on seemed to go forever.

,,,Evergreen did something similar in '96 when 103.5 New York was flipping from Country to KTU: they simulcast a different sister station for a day for a week, leading up to the official format launch. Kiss 108 even got a day in the Big Apple.

... albeit half a day: it was simulcast on the Friday of that week, only to give way to a looped heartbeat at 6 PM. WKTU would bow the next day, Saturday, at 12 Noon.

OH MY GOD. I have to deal with this "Mike FM" Bull$*(#? All those type of formats play is TRASH music. 96% of the music is TRASH Rock Music, 3% is AC, while 2% is Oldschool Hip Hop/R&B

Don't these Program Management know there is way too many Rock and Roll Stations?

I mean, come on.

Play Country? Spanich Hot AC, Urban AC; Play anything except this "We Play Anything" Crap. All it is, is A Nightmere Rock & Roll music.

Because its looping, the repetition is getting boring! Otherwise it is a good mix of music!

I was thinking though, could this indeed be the format? Afterall, GM does have a history of copying other formats. Think WROR and then the bought WKLB and merged it with WBCS at the time.

As I recall, the new WROR on 105.7 came out of the merge between WBCS when it was on 96.9 (oddly enough) and WKLB on 105.7. They moved the WKLB calls down to 96.9 and WBCS was dropped. Some of the WROR personalities (Jimmmyyyyyyyy Roberts amongst others I think) went to WKLB/96.9. Naturally, Loren and Wally persevered through yet another format change as the dreaded Dark Years came to an end. Eventually, former WROR/98.5 morning guy Joe Martelle came in as afternoon drive host (after a long non-compete) but he didn't really last all that long. He and his resurrected Saturday Night At The Oldies eventually quietly disappeared.

And since I mentioned Joe Martelle, can I just mention how much I enjoyed the Joe and Andy (Moes) Family morning show on the original 98.5/WROR. I followed Andy when he became the first morning drive guy (with Rob Buttery and Suzanne Lee) on the brand new 850/SportsRadio WEEI. He did what he was hired to do, too bad they didn't appreciate it.

Now that I went off-topic and gave you other stuff to discuss, please continue as you were. :D
