I've noticed a website that says only "HI"...could it be the ONE?

http://hot969boston.com

Well, that's interesting. Not that "HI" in all caps is hard to put on a website, but that's exactly what the Power 96.9 website said two minutes before the launch. But, yeah, could be.

The next stunt maybe?

I actually wish there was ONE station in Boston that would play Calvin Harris, Led Zeppelin, Nirvana, Psy, The Tramps, Brad Paisley, The Tubes, Jon Luc Ponty...
What was the last station to play Jon Luc Ponty, and how long ago, I wonder?

You heard it here first: Broadway show tunes 24x7. Can't wait for the Rodgers and Hammerstein kick-off marathon.

I want an all-instrumental music station, myself. Film and TV scores, instrumental rock, acoustic pieces, jazz, etc. Wordless 96.9!

Jean-Luc Ponty, actually. I remember hearing one of his compositions, "New Country" on WCAS back in the mid-'70s. I can't imagine where, except on some specialty show on a college or public radio station, you could hear anything by him now.

If you have trouble reaching the 96.9 site or streaming player, here are generic links that should always work regardless of format (provided they don't switch the call letters in the domain/URL - keep yer fingers crossed):

Web/home page link: http://www.WTKK.com (which should have a click button to access the "customized" audio player)

Generic player links: http://player.streamtheworld.com/liveplayer.php?CALLSIGN=WTKKFM
http://player.streamtheworld.com/liveplayer.php?CALLSIGN=WTKKFMAAC

(no fun on the graphics, though; still shows the old news-talk logo)

Direct streaming URLs:

32 kb 44 kHz stereo AAC http://provisioning.streamtheworld.com/pls/WTKKFMAAC.pls
32 kb 11 kHz stereo http://provisioning.streamtheworld.com/pls/WTKKFM.pls
32 kb 11 kHz stereo http://provisioning.streamtheworld.com/asx/WTKKFM.asx (for Windows Media Player)

(the last two 11 kHz streams have truly horrible audio; only use if you must)

*****************************************************************

As long as we're at it, the direct streaming URL for 96.9 Irish (WTKK HD2 - http://www.969irish.com/):

32 kb 44 kHz stereo AAC http://provisioning.streamtheworld.com/pls/WTKKHD2AAC.pls

(likewise substitute "HD2" for "FM" using the WTKKFM links/URLs above to access the Irish Channel streams)

This is Boston, not NYC, Atlanta, D.C., or any of those cities. The format they have on now is what they need to go with. It will get ratings, it will compete with WZLX, keep it! The Bone!

The don't keep it because the don't hired the right personalities for this format. Simple.

Right, that Pebbles lady. Well, they can put her on 106.7, or maybe they start tweeking 105.7. Seems to me, if she's really as talented as everyone says (I personally have no idea, never listened to 94.5), then she could do any format. This sort of rock format is going to draw the biggest audience in the Boston area, simple as that. People in their 30s, 40s, and 50s, the ones actually contributing to society, smart advertisers will get on board.
