10 AM on 96.9, and...

Yuck, a Loverboy song. They can throw that one out. The Bone might need a little refining. I would suggest throwing in some early '90s hard rock - AIC, Soundgarden, Faith No More, GNR - and cutting out the cheesiest of the '70s/'80s Arena Rock acts.

And they follow up with 'Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap.' AC/DC, overall, is done to death, but this track never gets old. Good work!

Don't shoot the messenger but this is a produced loop 'tape' or scheduled tracks for 6 hours. After that, it repeats in the same order.

lol, you're right, of course. Was being kind of tongue-in-cheek there, just because they played Alice in Chains immediately after I posted suggesting they should.

You heard it here first: Broadway show tunes 24x7. Can't wait for the Rodgers and Hammerstein kick-off marathon.

I want an all-instrumental music station, myself. Film and TV scores, instrumental rock, acoustic pieces, jazz, etc. Wordless 96.9!

Yak Free Radio
The No BS Zone
The Shut-Up-and-Sing Channel

This is Boston, not NYC, Atlanta, D.C., or any of those cities. The format they have on now is what they need to go with. It will get ratings, it will compete with WZLX, keep it! The Bone!

Are you kidding? This is the all time worst Rock station I ever heard. Worse than WGIR. They are not going to stay with this.

There's a thing on twitter from Boston radio watch saying that we may not see the final format till Thursday. I don't know why, greater media said Monday that pebbles would start so doesn't that mean the final format starts tomarrow?

It needs some tweaking. A little less of the Journey/Foreigner/Loverboy/Billy Idol stuff, a bit more GNR/AIC/Zeppelin/Thin Lizzy/Metallica before they sucked, and they'll do well.

Oh, and throw in some Pink Floyd, Floyd has always been a good compliment to any good hard-rocking station that's ever existed. Some tweaking, and this format can give WZLX (and prob. the fading WAAF) some real competition.

No reason to stay with anything close to the Bone format. Agencies don't buy that format and to slice and share a similar format with CBS gets Greater Media nothing worth fighting for. Plus, sadly, the game is not played for listeners. It's played for ad agencies. You format to win their listenership in a sense.

It's really only about two things:

1) Creating a format geared toward the demo that the most agencies buy to maximize revenues (female 25-54).

-or-

2) Protecting your power house top biller in that demographic from competitors who are or could potentially take your top demo listeners.

Seems like CC might be in the spy glass of one Cadillac Jack. And he has two vessels to go attack.

Well, Tibbs, I'm not necessarily disputing you, but is every station on the air geared toward women? If they all were, then none of them would matter, none of them would be big draws on their own. 98.5 and 93.7 do great, and their target is men. The very same men who came of age on the music 96.9 is playing this Sunday. When they're bored with the sports talk, they just might be inclined to switch to a station playing the music they grew up on. And WZLX is just not hard rocking enough, though they have gone a little bit more in that direction in recent years. If you're Apple marketing I-Pods, you want the young hipsters. If you're a car dealer, or an insurance agency, whatever, I'd would think you'd want people at their peak-earning years, in their 30s, 40s, early 50s. At least, if they have brains and some common sense. These are the ones contributing to society today more than anyone, truth be told. I don't know, you're probably right and they'll go with yet another rhythmic format, but how many slices of that pie can one cut? Besides, Greater Media already has 106.7 for the women, 92.9 for those forever stuck in the '90s, 105.7 for the Baby Boomers, why not try The Bone for a few months and see what happens?

Don't think that this stunting thing takes that long. A couple of days its fun, but from tommorow put that official station on.

Re: Latest for 96.9....

Ha...

Look,Boston could use a no shit REAL rock station..not Diet Classic Rock from 100.7. In your face...all attitude and LOUD.

Won't happen.

Except, that people sometimes just want to hear music, even those most addicted to talk radio. I'm living proof of that.

Well, that's a big audience. And an audience that may not have been all that thrilled with Ms. Eagan and her just-as-liberal co-host. Just saying. And, oh, Don't Fear The Reaper, never gets old.

Re: Latest for 96.9....

It can happen if enough of us make our voices heard. I'm doing my part. Followed @WTKK on Twitter, am letting them know my opinion. The station, for the most part, is sounding great today. Just need some tweaks, a bit less of the cornball late '70s/early '80s Arena Rock, a bit more edgy stuff like Blue Oyster Cult, Guns N' Roses, Alice in Chains, and the old stand-bys like Zeppelin, Sabbath, Floyd, etc. A winning format in what remains a rock-oriented city. At least for a few more years, might as well go with it. The hipsters and trendsters already have their stations.

Ever hear of WAAF?
