Re: re: 10 kHz AM Frequency of the Week - 1000 kHz
I hear what you're saying. I think I'm a little west of you....by main beach. And I have to say, the only way I knew for sure I had XEOY (unless WMVP was off) was nulling the local signal as best I could, and hearing XEOY's distinctive sounder breaking through underneath. As you probably know, you don't have to go too far west for the WMVP night signal to degrade significantly. It's much weaker in Marengo, and as Radioman noted, it's really marginal in De Kalb. On the other hand, as a teenager DXing where I grew up in Wauconda, the NIGHT signal (as WCFL) was very strong. and I never heard even a whiff of XEOY.

So the only times I've heard Oak City or Mexico DF is when AM 1000 was off the air, which was more often in the past, not so much now, due to higher uptime and multiple modules in the TX [when a few modules fail, power drops off a few kW, but not taking the 'rig' off the air completely like when there was 1 or 2 "Finals"!] or a backup TX. KOMO is yet but a dream...didn't stay up late often enough to find AM 1000 off for transmitter maintenance to hear them!
