10 kHz AM Frequency of the Week - 1460 kHz

I remembered WPRW...but I don't know if that building was its site. I did, however, remember that back in the early 90s WKDV programmed a kiddie format (W KiDs V according to Wikipedia) from something called Radio Aahs, before becoming Spanish. I was living in Fairfax Co. at that time. Between WPRW and the old WKDV I don't know what previous formats as I was attending college classes.

WPRW as far as I know was always at that site. Before the new 234 Bypass came through and Godwin drive was just a two lane (I remember it being gravel at one time ;D) it was out in the cornfields. Hard to imagine now though. If that was definitely in fact WPRW I can't say for sure, but I doubt it was anyone else at the time as there weren't many around that area then. WKCW was in Warrenton along with WPRZ, WPWC was in Dumfries (still is) WPIK/WXRA were in Woodbridge, and beyond that you had to go pretty far south for any other local AM's.

I grew up in Herndon, and I don't recall them being very easy to hear there back about 30 years or more ago, but, when I was in Manassas (had family there in Yorkshire) WPRW was playing beautiful music if memory serves me correctly.

Resurrecting this thread only to see if I can get some help ... was driving back into Columbus, Ohio last night from north of town where I was covering a high school football game. Normally, I could hear our local 1460 (WBNS) carrying Indians baseball as I'd have been in the heart of their usual north-south nighttime pattern. Not last night. A Spanish-language station I've never heard was murdering WBNS to the point where it couldn't be heard clearly until I was maybe seven miles from the tower. Oddly, the places I was hearing it best were in parts of WBNS' nighttime nulls, and when I went through the deepest parts of the nulls, there was the Spanish again.
Anyone have any idea of this station? Guessing no auroras were at play ... was hearing usual 50K stations on other parts of the dial.

Probably WKAM Goshen, IN or WKDV Manassas, VA.

I wouldn't be surprised if WKAM "forgot" to power down. I've heard them here a few times at night, although they're by no means a regular. Sidebar point:
A couple of nights ago, I was on 1460 and getting a good signal from KXNO (Des Moines).

Thanks guys. This was the first time I've ever heard this kind of interference over WBNS. It reminded me of 20 or so years ago when the Cuban blaster on 670 would shut down WMAQ many a night.
