10 kHz AM Frequency of the Week - 890 kHz

890 here is WBAJ Blythewood (Columbia area) during daytime. It dominates most of SC daytime. Most nights it is either WLS or Radio Progreso.

Here near Jacksonville FL, WLS and or Radio Progresso at night. Nothing during the day.

Thanks for the info Schmave, don't even know if I will have time to make it into Columbus; about the closest to Columbus I will probably get to is Thornville; with these reunions, there is usually a pretty tight schedule and sometimes not even much time to dx; although last year I made an excuse to leave one of the dinners early, saying I had to go back to my room for a few items and then hurriedly went to the parking lot and got into the rental car for about 10 minutes of dx'ing and then back to the dinner.

It's hard to imagine all these stations with nulls of any type to the south, since here in the St. Pete area, no stations have nulls to the south.

One (WWBA 820) has a null to the w.n.w.; but most of the nulls are to the north, northwest or northeast.

Wow. My parents live in Thornville (the village itself) and I myself lived there for 3 1/2 years until mid-March. It's far enough from Columbus that the big flamethrowers (including WLS, for the purposes of this thread) don't suffer from much interference as they might here in town from wires and other electrical sources. Locally, WTVN gets through out there, but it's weak (maybe 3 on a 1-to-10 scale).

During the day here in East Texas it's a solid signal from KTXV Mabank, which carries programming from CRI. With 20kW directional daytime (WNW/ESE), it's no wonder they put a city-grade signal into Dallas and eastward into Tyler, about 100 miles apart.

At night it's a very trashy WLS, slammed by Cuba and KVOZ Del Mar Hills (Laredo) TX, the latter of which shouldn't really be heard here at all.
