10 years ago: Comcast SportsNet Philadelphia was born

10 years ago tomorrow at 5 PM EDT, Comcast SportsNet Philadelphia signed on the air replacing Sports Channel Philadelphia and the legendary PRISM Channel. I would like to get your thoughts on CSN, PRISM and Sports Channel Philadelphia and how did this all happen in the first place

One of the reasons I ditched cable is because I did not want to have my money go to yet another garbage Comcast channel and this one filled with sports teams I could care less about with the rest of the broadcast day filled out with infomercial spam and some content that seems like sports. The rah-rah boosterism also was very off putting along with awful announcers behind the microphone doing games of teams that I would be lucky to even tell you one member of.
If I had an opt out option for cable, I would have said, I don't want this garbage channel or your CN8.
What do you think of that?

This thread is about comments on the channel and the programs they have aired in the past 10 years and comments on the the 2 previous ones that preceded CSN, PRISM and Sports Channel Philadelphia.

I commented about the channel and its programs.
It is all there in plain English for everyone to read.
If you want the Cliffs Notes version it is - I am not going to pay for some awful Comcast channel that broadcasts garbage and sports teams I do not care about so that is why I ditched the absurdly high cable rates which help subsidize the channel which is an argument for ala carte cable pricing.

As for PRISM, it was just a pay movie channel that annoyingly broadcast sports that I didn't care about so I didn't pay for it. From what I saw of it, the movies were just to kill time between sporting events.

As for SportsChannel Philadelphia (at least get the name right, I am sure you can find it on the internet if you need to confirm it), it was basically the SportsChannel America feed (that did have national NHL Hockey coverage) with the Philadelphia part being broadcasts of teams I don't care about. Again, it would be another argument for ala carte cable choices.

Oh, you wanted to know how Comcast SportsNet came into being.
There is this amazing internet website called Google http://www.google.com that I typed in "Comcast SportsNet history" into and I found this: http://www.comcast-spectacor.com/corporate/CompanyHistory.asp as the first result. It explains everything.
Perhaps in the future you can use this Google website to find the information you are looking for whether it be information about television stations or photos of naked lesbians. It is a wonderful resource that is a marvel of our modern technological age that enables us to find when TV station went on air or p0rn. It is a fine resource that will give you the information you seek almost immediately.

You seem a bit angry.

I seem to remember hearing a lot of touchtones, going in and out of commercial breaks, on SportsChannel Philadelphia.

You would be angry too if you had to pay high fees to subsidize a channel you never watched.
My one sincere hope is that Comcast goes bankrupt, since they are a bunch of money grubbers who apparently learned customer service from the Soviets. They are one evil monopoly and they have some of the most annoying commercials on television.
All of the channels they offer as exclusives are not worth the price of admission.
