100.1 FM Las Vegas Valley now playing oldies -- simulcast of KRCY FM

As of 1/21/10, 100.1 FM in the Las Vegas Valley now playing oldies. I listened closely to the weak signal and it is a simulcast of the KRCY FM signal which normally airs on 103.9 FM Bullhead City/Lake Havasu, AZ and in Laughlin, NV. Gone is the simulcast of the country music formatted KHWG AM from Fallon, NV which previously aired on this frequency, (that I reported just before Christmas). KRCY FM is a.k.a. "Murphy Broadcasting's Krazy FM". As you head toward Lake Havasu, AZ the signal is also heard on 96.7 FM. They feature TRI-STATE NEWS, a service of Maddog Wireless.

I don't know what is going on with 96.7 FM in the Las Vegas area. So far, the frequency has dead air, but not completely. When you tune in at times, it sounds a little different than all the other open frequencies. Perhaps, someone is preparing the frequency for broadcast and I'm hearing low power transmitter threshold. I'll update ya'all later when anything changes.

After I made my posting, the plug was pulled on 100.1. Now it is back to dead air again. I don't know if it was the weather that knocked out KRCY the Lake Havasu, Bullhead City & Laughlin station, or if it was the translator or repeater is out. As you know it happens... I'll keep you posted.

K261BZ, 100.1, Las Vegas (Mt. Potasi) repeats K244CE, 96.7 in Pahrump which in turns rebroadcasts 100.1 KHWG-FM, Crystal, NV itself a repeat of KHWG-AM, 750 kHz from Fallon, NV. Something in the chain must have failed. KHWG-FM is on Mt. Schrader (Shader? on some maps), between Mercury and Pahrump..near Johnnie. I've been by there and there is no power....they must have solar panels, etc. and the road looks rough; if they're out the 100.1 Mt. Potasi may have accidentally captured 96.7 in Havasu and flipped on.
