100.3..Sports on FM It just sounds like Music!

Too bad, hate to see all the people who were working there lose their jobs. Just seems like Radio One had no plan to promote it

They are now calling themselves Old School 100.3 which is basically Mojo 3.0. Radio One screwed up the launch of the Fan bad. CBSSports radio is not good enough when you have all of the major sport teams on WLW and the rest of their signals.

Re: Old School Cincy - 100.3

I agree, this is a burnt format and this what you get when you have limited competition and signals, in a stale market like Cincinnati. I call it Mojo 3.0 although nothing beats the original Mojo 94.9

Re: Old School Cincy - 100.3

Microbob, this format was working for them before the FAN fiasco. You are not the demographic they are going for. Those listeners will not consider it stale. Jammin, you really don't get radio at all, do you? CHR? We have Q and KISS, and CHR cannibalizes Urban. Good plan for the WIZ.
I love the analysis of radio on this board, based in personal format preferences. That ain't how it works.

Inmates were running the Asylum at Radio One because they lost money at trying sports talk on a signal few knew existed.

Re: Old School Cincy - 100.3

I have stated before that it was a bad decision to put sports on 100.3 and expected them to go back to music but not until early next year. It takes at least 12 to 14 months for a talk format to take hold. I also think WIZF will take a hit in the ratings again also which is why they dumped Mojo in the first place.

Re: Old School Cincy - 100.3

It takes 12-14 months for a GOOD talk format to take hold. This station was never good and never grew. They made the right decision. It was going nowhere and they cut their losses early.

Mojo all over again but with an urban lean. This didn't work the last time, why not try CHR?

Aren't there 2 or 3 stations programming to that market either with a straight mainstream CHR, or Hot A/C that can get some of the younger audience? And, you've got an Urban station there as well I think that leans toward the younger listener? Sounds like a pretty crowded market to me as it is now...

Yes, you have an Adult CHR and a Mainstream CHR. I can name a few markets with 3 or 4 CHR stations. Maybe CHR was a bad example for Cincinnati, I just don't see why they keep reverting back to the same format that isn't working for them. There is no true Hot AC in town. Journey failed, but I think that was a Cumulus problem, would've loved to see them try a "Mix" format there.

WIZF's ratings won't change. If anyone's ratings would change it'd be WGRR, because their ratings increased by almost two shares after MOJO was replaced.

Re: Old School Cincy - 100.3

Jammin, who said it wasn't working? Just because some manager makes a change, doesn't mean the old format wasn't working. Mojo had decent numbers considering the signal isn't that good.
It was working, but someone thought they could do something else. Now, that someone isn't working.

I remember when CC owned Mix 94.1 and they were very bland musically especially around the time when they had Whoopi Goldberg on in mornings. Nothing like the old WWNK Wink 94.1.

Re: Old School Cincy - 100.3

Agreed... It's not a format for "B" sides. It's a mass appeal format with a inferior signal, and might pull a 3 share.

^ Well, fine for the format and signal. If they play a bunch of B-sides, they won't be.
