100.3 The River is on the air in Huntsville

didn't have time to listen since i was looking for weather info, but 92.5 is now WVNN-FM, 94.1 is a simulcast of WHRP (pointless if you ask me), and 100.3 is on with "the river" and went into John Melencamp - Jack & Diane when i passed by it
______________

They seem to be playing mostly 70s-80s hits with a few late 60s/early 90s thrown in....seems to be a pretty unique format (no hard rock, etc). I personally like it so far. Their web site is: 1003theriver.com, and it gives a list of the last 10 songs played.

yep.... if you're looking for a replacement to kool 92/94, and have an outdoor directional antenna, 101.7 WKOM from Columbia TN has decent reception in northern madison county (only with the antenna pointed north, east or northeast will get you WMXN)or another alternative that has a decent signal here, Fun 92.7 WAFN-FM out of Arab
______________

An unique format? Sounds just like Z93 in Gadsden and the Eagle in Birmingham, IMO.

Not exactly....they play a lot softer stuff; a couple of songs I recall hearing this morning; "Too Much Heaven" by the Bee Gees and "Shining Star" by the Manhattans. I know from listening to The Eagle they wouldn't touch either of those....

neither would Z (I've always considered Z a classic rock station rather than classic hits) The RDS for 100.3 shows it as Adult Hits

I haven't been here in a while but all the Huntsville radio changes brought me back. Actually word has it that they are simulcasting 94.1 with 93.3 because they plan to move Urban A/C to 94.1 and try something new on 93.3. Don't know what though. I hear they are playing around with a few ideas. As far as 92.5 simulcasting 770 news/talk, I have an idea for Cumulus Huntsville. Since 92.5 doesn't have as great of a coverage area in Huntsville, why not use the kicker on 103.5 to simulcast 92.5 instead of 93.3. It's not needed for 93.3 since that frequency has great coverage in Huntsville. Simulcasting it with 92.5 will help news/talk's FM coverage in Huntsville a lot.

Also, I don't know if anyone else noticed this but the trimulcast of "WEUP-AM" stations have flip flopped their calls. 1700 is not WEUP which used to be 1600's calls, 1600 is now WHIY which used to be 1190's (Moulton) calls, and 1190 is now WEUV which used to be 1700's calls. Word has it that ownership at WEUP is planning on shutting down, or selling 1600am, since 1700 has better coverage, and just keeping 1700 and 1190 as simulcast partners as "WEUP-AM". So if anyone is interesting in purchasing 1600am in Huntsville you may get your chance within the next year or two...
