100.3's Future: Talk, or the biggest smokescreen in Knoxville radio history?

Hammond is in control of the local group and had more than a large part in the decision in what is being done. And if I were him I would be packing.

I don't think he's goin to be packing his crap up because he wants to "spend more time with the kids."

I think once the smoke clears, or at least thins, the corp. people are going to shiv him in the liver and pitch him overboard.
 
I guess I find it hard to believe that Hammond went to his corporate bosses and said "I know how we can save $60k a month. How about we walk away from the lease on 100.3!" Maybe he did but why would the head of the cluster want to lose that signal and have it compete with the remaining stations.

Not that they wouldn't have noticed anyway, but it's widely thought that JP brought corporate and board attention to the high dollar lease in a small market when he moved to bring suit against Citadel near the end of their bankruptcy term. Outside-the-market radio analysts are looking at it as either a dumb move on JP's part, or a dumb-as-a-fox move on his part. Very well could be the latter.
 
I think you should review your timeline. Citadel rejected his contract and before that went months without paying him under his lease. The threatened suits were after that to protect his interest. It is all public information.

You're being myopic about the situation. He went to his handler and said, "Hey Paul, I've figured out a way we can save 20 million over the next three years!" And the rest is history. When everything is said and done it's going to cost them far more than that amount.
