Both 95.5 and 98.7 are borderline Rhythmic to me. But that's just what works in Detroit. For listeners who like the pure pop/rock side of CHR radio, there's WDVD. Detroit does NOT need another station playing Adele, Katy Perry, and Rihanna. Where does the OP get these ridiculous ideas?
Pretty much the only glaring exception to Crawford's rule of programming religious or at least "family friendly" formats is Power 92 in Chicago. I may be forgetting some, but it seems like all their other non-religious stations are Oldies, Standards or some hybrid thereof. If WMUZ were to ever change to a secular format (which it wouldn't ever do), I would see it doing something like Crawford's various "Legends" stations before it would go CHR or Urban. (A "Legends" type format would be PERFECT on one of their HD side channels though.)
I personally would like a little more in the way of CCM music on WMUZ - none of the K-Love repeater stations around the Detroit metro are audible where I live, and Smile FM has a weak at best signal on 89.5 from Downriver - but if it ain't broke (meaning, if it's making money)... I do like the love songs show on Saturday nights though.
