oh the detractors say,"it's for sale".... tell me one station that isn't?

tune in-win. tune in-hear a free spin.

Whoa, okay, easy with the caps there buddy! Jeez.

Okay, now... If this is true, congratulations to Mark! I worked with him not to long ago, he is very professional and deserves this gig if its true!

Second, I'm not sure where you are getting this whole "100,000 Watts" from. KMCQ is only licensed for 7,100 watts on a directional antenna from Cougar.

With their C2 upgrade, ERP at 150 meters would be 50kw. One could say "equivalent to 50kw". Where's the 100 come in?

At the derated power level, the 60dBu misses Bremerton, but certainly a viable signal in the market.

Agreed. Mark is one of the best in the biz (and just passed one year at Warm, BTW)

Just keep in mind (assuming this is all on track) ... that nearly EVERY "gold" station launches with the "we will play everything you have forgotten" and "we will have a deep library" -- then the "pro" programmers come in and trim the library, tighten up the format ... and you find yourself with the same gold station playing the same two to (max) five hundred cuts repetitively.

Am just sayin' before you go putting on all that cologne for the spring dance ... keep in mind the gal you're taking is the same one who has called you the afternoon of every other dance to say "sorry ... I won't be able to make it"!!!!!

Hope this station DOES work (and even if this is place-holder while the station sells it would be fun as an interim deal). Nothing wrong with putting SOMETHING on there that would be fun to hear. Kudos if you can get me to move my velcro'd GPS and remember there used to be a radio behind it!

;D

wow so i just happened to have to scan through radio stations because my presets got erased and I haven't reset them...and i found 104.5..and i was like wait what? where did this come from...

and than I did a search and found out it seems to be a rebranded more powerful station as of today? Nice timing on my part i guess....although further search showed me it's been playing classic rock for a few weeks?

anywho I think I'm digging this station and i hope it lasts and gets a piece of the market share so it can stick around......kind of feels like discovering an indie movie people don't know about at the moment....

just saying I like what I'm hearing and what whoever is doing and hope it sticks around 8)

I tuned in at 11:35.The heard a different voice on there and it wasn't the voices we heard before when they went on the air in 2008,they are live now and I think they launched it earlier, but Mark Christopher is not there yet.

I also heard a Barry White song I have never heard on there before.

I heard a new voiceover, a lady's voice. Their new slogan "104.5 KMCQ- All songs from the 60's and 70's."

Sounds like the station got another "upgrade", with a former KBSG person at the helm

From what Mark Christopher is saying this is only a test station,so who knows what will happen to it when it gets sold.

I just turned on KMCQ a few minutes ago and Mark Christpher is on the air; nice to see KMCQ have a live dj on the air and it's even cooler to hear Mark Christopher back on the radio. KBSG 97.3 used to be one of my favorite stations and I used to listen to regularly(BTW, i'm in my twenties and I love oldies/classic hits music); hopefully Mark will be on KMCQ for a long time to come and they can eventually be what the old KBSG once was(some of the same jocks, and hopefully some of the same programs; i.e. Dick Bartley's shows).

Well whatever happens hopefully they keep their current format; it sounds great.

"In the shadow of Mt. Rainier".  Well, they ain't there anymore, and I think they should hire Charlie Van Dyke to do the voiceover, if they are going to use that line.  He would make the station sound more like K-Earth 101 in Los Angeles

Yeah, right. Nice timing on your part. Your presets just happened to get erased today, and you register a new account on Radio-Info.com to make your first post ever to comment on the great change in coverage.

How fortuitous! :D

Apparently the KMCQ studio(s) is located at 553 Roosevelt Ave. in Enumclaw, Wa. That's pretty funny.......because you'd think it would be in Covington, Wa to serve their community of license and get PSA's going and find out about local Kent school district sports broadcasts and such.

Mark Christopher is doing an honorable job, but his voice link is quite muddy, making this a less than professional outfit. My guess is that KMCQ has no buyer yet and so we are treated to Mark and his oldies format he knows so well. And I certainly hope they are encoding for the PPM. It's a relatively simple process to get into the air chain (I'm told), and the equipment is no-charge from Arbitron. From there they can build an audience with the PPM and show a potential buyer (or two) the stations' value.

Their audio processing sounds very good - much better than KJR-FM

I hope you are talking about the online processing, because the FM signal still sounds like garbage!

p.s. The listen live link did not work for me
