105.5 CBEF-2-FM WINDSOR, ONTARIO, CANADA NEEDS TO BE REPORTED TO THE FCC, FOR INTERFERING WITH 105.5 WWWM FM
IN TOLEDO, OHIO.

Toledo, OHIO got a new hit music station named STAR 105 at 105.5 FM, but I can't get it on FM here in metro DETROIT because of a CBC French Canadian programming station operating on 105.5 FM in Windsor, Ontario, Canada named CBEF-2 FM.

Please help me, by calling the FCC to report 105.5 CBEF-2 FM interfering with WWWM FM STAR 105.5 FM signal here in metro DETROIT.

THE FCC TELEPHONE NUMBER IS: 1-888-CALL-FCC (1-888-225-5322)

OR GO TO www.fcc.gov to report this radio interference issue.

WWWM-FM's interference-protected 60dBu contour extends 28.4km from their transmitter. Assuming Toledo is more than 28km from Detroit (it is) Star 105 is not protected up there.

The Canadian station is properly notified to the U.S., with the same parameters actually in use.

WWWM's protected contour barely touches Monroe, MI. CBEF-2's coverage pattern doesn't come anywhere close to that and so there isn't anything the FCC can do about them. The FCC and the CRTC have an agreement that stations in Canada and USA won't cause interference to each other within protected contours. WWWM may put a decent signal into some parts of metro Detroit but it's well outside WWWM's protected area. With more and more translators and LPFMs crowding up the dial, it's becoming more and more difficult to listen to fringe stations over the air. I wonder how the Rochester Hills translator, W288BK is affected by CBEF-2, if at all?

Just out of curiosity, what's on 105.5 CBEF-2-FM? Is it CBC's French AM network La Premiere Chaine? Did the CBC turn off 540 CBEF when they turned off 1550 CBE and move the French AM programming to 105.5?

Or is it the CBC's French FM network Espace Musique? I thought that station was on 103.9?

It is the same thing that's heard on 540 AM CBEF and 103.1 CBEF-1/Leamington, ON. Apparently some people in and around Windsor complained about interference problems with one or both signals and the CRTC authorized a new signal on 105.5 in Windsor as CBEF-2. Espace Musique is still on 103.9
