105.7/96.7 The Groove | Friday & Saturday Night Mixes

THE STATION IS STILL SOUNDING GREAT.

BUT, I do have to say one thing about the Saturday Night Dance Party and Friday Night Live Mixes. I do like the fact they are giving the dance sound attention (despite the fact there are no established / pure dance artists sprinkled in). However, I do notice most of the mixshow material being used sounds very Rhythmic AC like. It would be great for some of the current electro-hip hop and house (that is trending on the big rhythmics and rhythmic top 40 station MIX SHOWS nationwide) to be heard in Groove mixshows as well, rather than "It's not right, but it's ok" remixes by Whitney Houston, Jennifer Lopez "give me just one night", or "crazy" remixes by Gnarls Barkley.

When I say electro hip hop, I'm talking about those electro remixes of rhythmic hip hop and urban pop heard on most rhythmic (and even top 40 chr) mixshows, such as

Work it out - Lil Jon & Pitbull
Favorite Dj - Clinton Sparks & Jermain Dupri
Let the bass kick - Dj Chuckie ft Jermain Dupri
Shots - LMFAO ft LIL JON
Show me love - Steve Angello & Laidback Luke Ft Robin S
I'm in Miami - LMFAO
Alors On Danse RMX - Fransisco / Stromae ft Kanye West & Gilbere Forte
Took the night - Chelley
OMG (Dj CLASS rmx) - Usher
Over (electro remix) - Drake
Put your drinks up - Dj Mad
We no speak Americano - Yolanda Be Cool & DCUP
hey baby - Pitbull ft T-Pain
money to blow (Mike D Bass Mix) - Birdman
Swedish House Mafia ft Pharrell - Your name
Check it out - Nicki Minaj ft Will-I-Am
Dj got us falling in love (Jumpsmokers remix) -Usher & Pitbull
Beautiful Monster - Ne-yo
I go hard - Tino Cochino ft Three 6 Mafia
Feel it - Tiesto ft Three6Mafia, Flo Rida

And anything similar that I may have left out.

Not only is this more hype in a rhythmic radio mixshow than Fugees "killing me softly" or Gnarls Barkley and Whintey Houston remixes, but out of all places these songs are played during rhythmic radio & club broadcast mixshows, you cannot deny that this type of dance sound would be right up the alley for an Atlanta Party Station! rhythmic. I'm not sure how many younger folks who are being targeted by the main playlist are loving the 90's Whitney Houston, Fugees, J-Lo dance remixes and thinking "this is cool!".

*  *    *   ** *
Once again, I repeat - I'm suggesting for SOME mixshow play. Not for the entire station or even the entire set of every mixshow to completely be converted to the current, popular electro-hip hop and house sound. Just some of it thrown in here and there from time to time. Lastly, it would also be nice to have more hyped up mixing styles on Atlanta's Party Station.

Have you no stations in Phoenix to listen to?

Correction: "Waiting for tonight" - Jennifer Lopez.

mixes might not be live and still might from the old format maybe they forgot to change them out or they are still working on it.

htowler I believe some are not live neither. I finally heard Andre Perry mixing on the "Remix @ 6"

I sort of figured this, and figured it was also possible the complete transition of everything will be done by the time all the new on-airs took over the airwaves. But.... just in case.... I wanted to mention it here. I wouldn't assume they literally just simply "forgot", but... before anyone ridicules the idea that people can forget in radio, remember that doctor who forgot to use the anesthesia before performing a surgery and numbing the patient's nerves - and that is some really serious business there, so.. I'm sure it's also possible to forget in radio as well.

I still think this station is WAY too repetitive. The mixes on Friday and Saturday night are great though, but the mix at 6 they do during the week sucks.

.....REALLY? It's comments like that, that make this board look like some tree house that a bunch of 6 or 7 year old kids create where they post a sign that says, "no guuurrrls allowed" or "no boys allowed". ::)

People post all the time on different radio states and cities on this board. Sharing thoughts and comparisons of radio all different stations from all over. That's what this site is for.

Electroboy, your name isn't familiar as someone who frequents the Atlanta board on a regular basis. I totally agree with you that the occasional post from someone whose familiarity with Atlanta radio is limited to a little bit of on-line sampling. However, if you were to go through and read all the posts in all the threads in the past few months from KDM 7000, you'd see that he has been spamming the Atlanta board with his one-note song about demanding that the stations in Atlanta for a long, long time now.

Perhaps if you'd research how frequently KDM 7000 has been spamming of this board you'd realize that it is his spamming that makes the board look almost as much like a tree house for a bunch of 6 or 7 year olds as a nickname that sounds like a bad anime character.

In short, if you do your homework, you won't be embarrassed by mistakes like the one you just made.

I HAVE BAD NEWS.

1. I'm most likely not changing the name any time soon,
2. I most likely will continue to talk - if there is something I feel should be talked about.

SO

Anyone who is unhappy and feels uneasy about this news will have to either

1. Get over it, or
2. SIMPLY just not read the posts that THEY ALREADY KNOW are most likely to make them unhappy.

THIS WRAPS UP THIS ENTIRE DISCUSSION.

Well, it seems like The Groove added a few more songs to their playlist, so it went from 88 to 95 songs now. Hopefully the upward trend will continue. It also seems like they have been slightly (I mean very slightly) less repetitive recently. I'm going to keep crossing my fingers...
