Gag a maggot. Could you make that list any worse? Actually, you could, now that I think about it. Just add the craptastic sounds of Creed, 3 Doors Down, Five for Fighting, and Hinder. yuck... And yet, we scratch our heads wondering why radio is in the crapper. ???
Aahhh, I couldn't agree more, stereolane! But, my point was that 105.7 could either go Rhythmic with an ALL-OUT Hip-Hop/Rap format. But, I would RATHER them become like the Philly or L.A. CHRs which play about 60 to 70% rythmic (hip-hop, dance...) and the other 30% would still recognize the pop/rock tracks that made it huge, like "Hey Soul Sister" Train, stuff by John Mayer, Adam Lambert, etc.
It's been WAY TOO LONG that we haven't had that pure (WELL-ROUNDED) CHR in Atlanta that plays EVERYTHING that hits the charts....(they would grab listeners from country, R&B, Hot-AC, Hip-HOP) That's what I miss here is just a NORMAL, (ever-evolving), CHR/Top 40 station. No, ".....sounds of Creed, 3 Doors Down, Five for Fighting, and Hinder....." (as you mentioned above)
I know you know what I mean.
And I know y'all can't be tired of my sample playlists! ;D (but, just so you know, this list below is taken from ACTUAL playlists from REAL CHR/TOP-40 stations)
THIS IS THE EXACT TYPE OF TOP-40/CHR (with the full-scale variety that only a pure TOP-40 can deliver) that ATLANTA's BEEN MISSING for nearly 20 years:
Jessica Jarrell - Up And Running (w/ Travie McCoy)
Adam Lambert - If I Had You*
Cee-Lo Green - F**k You
Eminem - Not Afraid
Ke$ha - Take It Off
Enrique Iglesias - I Like It
Flo-Rida - Club Can't Handle Me (w/ David Guetta)
OneRepublic - Secrets*
Mike Posner - Cooler Than Me (w/ Big Sean)
Maroon 5 - Misery*
Trey Songz - Say Aah
Nelly - Just A Dream
Taylor Swift - You Belong To Me*
M.I.A. - Paper Planes
Usher - OMG
ATC - Around The World (La La La La La)
Train - Hey Soul Sister*
3OH!3 - Starstuck
*LIGHTLY sprinkled with rock tracks (as long as they're hits)
....Just hit, after hit, after hit, after hit, after hit. And not so one dimensional like 95.5 "the beat" was.
And I feel that (ESPECIALLY AS A CLEAR CHANNEL STATION), this possible "change" that 105.7 "the groove" has coming on Monday (albeit ONLY a stronger position/signal), this station could just be our last hope of releasing us from the "Bermuda Triangle of CHR Radio....."
.....KDM, show me some love, brotha! (lol) ;D
