105.7 The Groove gets Bigger, Better & Louder Labor Day Weekend

Whois search of 967thegroove.com confirms. Looks like a 105.7/96.7 simulcast. Although there is the rare possibility the Groove is headed to 96.7 to die...just like Lite FM did.
There's no way The Groove is MOVING to 96.7. That wouldn't be considered "Bigger, Better, Louder." It will definitely be a 105.7/96.7 simulcast.

You're right. The demise of The Beat has given The Groove an opportunity. As a matter of fact, I just saw a Groove billboard so they obviously feel some former Beat listeners are in need of a new station.

They still should have rebranded the station. No idea why they named it "The Groove" in the first place. This isn't the 1970s!

Complete with disco mirror balls, indeed.

In regards to theme weekends...B98.5's theme weekends (now just an 80s weekend) is a preemptive theme weekend. Nothing from the normal weekday playlist plays (unless it is a part of the theme weekend). Star 94 did a preemptive retro weekend a while back.
I think that B98.5 does the 1980s weekends to pick up weekend listenership--AC and other "adult*" formats like country, oldies, etc. do CRAPPY on the weekends and after PM drivetime. Just because your station is Number One To Listen To At Work, it doesn't mean that your station is Number One To Listen To After Work.

Cox has some really good 1980s stations with their "Point" format (e.g., WPOI 101.5 Tampa). Probably no room on the dial for that in the ATL but they can have the best of both worlds by doing 80s weekends on an AC station.

*Radio is the only business where "adult" doesn't mean "porn" or other nekkid entertainment.

Star and B98.5 used to have dueling retro Friday nights in the early 90s. That was back when they both did retro 70s shows.

Detroit's 106.7 has the same awful disco ball. They are evolving like 105.7. Rhythmic AC seems like it's on its way out.

I wonder what could Detroit's 106.7 possibly be evolving to? A sound that a few other stations already provide? No really, I'm curious.

The DJ just said she has to get out of the way of the engineers running around. Must be tough to flip a switch for a simulcast on 96.7. ;D

If there is a WGST fm somewhere in here, WHY??? Why waste a signal or tower with such syndicated tripe as what they run on 640?? It's a waste of time and money.. WGST is a waste of time.. Who Cares??? Just move the Groove to one of the 100,000 Sticks and be done with it !!

If 96.7 were to flip, wouldn't there NOT be any DJ's on the station right now still talking?

There are DJs on 96.7 now? I can't get it here in Cobb County.

DJ just said she doesn't know what's happening either. She may be out of a job in a few minutes.
Which DJ? Trust me, as someone who works in radio...we usually know what's going on...
