"Bigger, Better, & Louder".
So far, you could say the "Bigger" and "Louder" part came true. In order to be better, something has to change from what has normally been going on. I wouldn't use three words to describe an additional signal. "Louder" pretty much covers the more signal aspect. SO, I'm surely hoping there's more to this - ESPECIALLY IF I'm supposed to be relocating back to Atlanta anytime soon. At first, I didn't think much of 95.5 The Beat going away since they weren't really doing much anymore to begin with, but now that plans are I'm back to Atlanta and not London, I'm beginning to have some regrets. Even plain and mundane, a 95.5 The Beat type format is better than no 95.5 The Beat format. It will be a challenge coping to Atlanta ways of non urban radio since I am a rhythmic radio freak. It's not like I could even say I'll just listen to the light rock station if I have to. I am no longer a big fan of Urban like I used to be 10 years ago.
Looks like I'll have to settle for a rhythmic channel playing a bunch of 90's material and missing a few currents, OR start getting myself mentally prepared for a large large dose of pop rock and get over the lack of a Party Station type feel. Everything was so perfect in early 2000's. Now, what happened? And isn't it ironic that I find out my news about taking the house in Fayetteville ON MONDAY, AROUND NOON? Well, I've got to be thankful for 105.7 or whatever signal picks up in Fayetteville because as far as I've heard, there is some dance on The Groove, and I guess Nessa will kind of make me feel "at home" a little.
I'm just not sure what it's going to take for a large, international connection city like Atl to get something proper that's not Urban. Maybe one of the urbans should attempt to be rhythmic or something and "do it right". Atlanta pretty much had it made back in the early 2000's. I also don't understand all these predictions about LESS being on Atl airwaves when many other lacking cities are FILLING IN MORE to make up for what's missing! Look at Detroit even! They already had a good hit music station BEFORE getting another one. I wont even mention California, where the "C" in CHR should stand for California... SOMETHING needs to change. There's no reason for me to still desire ALL Phoenix rhythmics and top 40's over Atlanta ones, 19 years later -and have people AGREE with my frame of mind! This is absurd. I thought it was just me until I discovered these boards and saw an incredible amount of people IN VARIOUS SECTIONS sharing identical thoughts, yet nothing really seems to be happening. Forget illegal immigration and breast feeding. There should be protests and marches down the streets for a real top 40 and rhythmic in Atlanta! This is one of those times where I wish I didn't care about radio as much as I do..
