106.7 THE BEAT - WDTW FM DETROIT HAS EVOLVED TO A HIP HOP/POP STATION

106.7 WDTW FM in DETROIT, MICHIGAN has made adjustments to their playlist since Labor Day weekend. I like their new playlist because they now play old pop hits mixed with recurrents and new pop hits. i like hearing older pop music instead of mostly all new or recurrent hits played on regular CHR radio stations like 98.7 AMP radio and Channel 955 - 95.5 FM, which are both Contemporary Hits radio station in Detroit.

They sound very current at night now but during the day they still play enough '90s that I would qualify it as still a Rhythmic AC, albeit a more current-leaning one than before (Rhythmic Adult CHR, if there is such a thing?). The old school has been scaled back a bit (especially the '80s material) but it is still there, enough to make it still sound unique compared to Detroit's other CHRs and Urbans. I was disappointed when they dropped virtually all of the old school stuff earlier this year, although I was apparently in the minority, as the ratings went up. They seem to have found a happy medium now between the Rhythmic CHR and the Rhythmic AC, and it sounds great.
