106.7 WDTW FM DETROIT should try a HIP HOP and HITS RADIO FORMAT [RHYTHMIC CHR]

I feel that Clear Channel Communications should try a CHR/Hip Hop hybrid on the 106.7 FM WDTW FM frequency here in DETROIT, because 106.7 has a good signal to hear hip hop and rhythmic contemporary hits radio music on.

I would love to hear hip hop on 106.7 WDTW FM's strong signal. 106.7 FM WDTW has a stronger signal than 97.9 FM WJLB.

106.7 WDTW FM broadcast from DOWNTOWN DETROIT with 61,000 watts of power. 97.9 FM WJLB only broadcast with 50,000 watts of power from the city of Highland Park.
 
Then they would just cancel themselves out like they did when they were The Beat. Why not just get WJLB to swich frequencies with WDTW instead.
 
Why make any change at all? The D is cheap to run and the ratings are up.

There's too much hip-hop on Detroit radio already.
 
Exactly. CC just had a rhythmic station there, why put it back when you just blew it up and the D's ratings are ALREADY better?
 
Another moronic idea. The Beat was blown up because it was cannibalizing 95.5, and that was more pop-leaning. A more hip-hop leaning rhythmic station would cannibalize WJLB.

Between the two CHRs, WJLB and Hot 107-5 there is more than enough hip hop to go around in Detroit. I know you think every station should flip to hip hop, but there are other kinds of music out there.
 
Detroit CAN support another station that plays hip hop music without being urban. They just have to play 75% hip hop and 25% pop hits like a real rhythmic. Clear Channel can go back to it but this time utilize the "WiLD" platform (a.l.a. KYLD, WWLD and WWVA) to keep the ratings in the lower Top 15 at least for a longer timeframe, plus a mainstream urban and rhythmic top 40 can be co-owned without competing within the cluster. Examples of this: CC owns KMEL and KYLD in San Francisco; Cox owns WJMZ and WZHT in Greensville, South Carolina; Cox also owns WCFB and WPYO in Orlando. They just have to go after hip hop fans who don't listen to hardcore pop or urban R&B, and who live in places like Livonia and Warren.
 
If you look at it, CC already has that. WJLB and Channel 955. Channel has leaned very rhythmic as of late, very similar to WiLD 94.9 in SF. There playlists are nearly identical. Although 955's presentation all together is more mainstream, the playlist is not a very mainstream CHR.
 
I won't name-call or bash, but Human, I too liked the beat. it reunited me with so many songs that I grew up listening to. with that said, Detroit's next best shot to get the station that you want lies either with.... 98.7 maybe tweaking their playlist to add some of that music( don't think that will happen) or 93.1 finally admitting they made a mistake flipping DRQ in '05. But by reading this board a lot, a thought process is that 93.1 could become country, or simulcast 760 am if they flip Doug fm. but I still think that is the closest you will come to that. and as long as clear channel owns 106.7 fm, and 95.5 does well in the ratings, the beat or any rhythmic CHR probably won't happen.
