106.9 K295CH, Kansas City translator upgrade and sale

It's a translator station (which is currently rebroadcasting KLRX's K-Love format).
However the owners (who also own KCXL and KCTO) proposed to upgrade it and sell it last year. The upgrade has been approved.

Any guesses on what it will do once Carter Broadcast Group takes over? I'm guessing they will either rebroadcast KPRS-HD2 or add an HD3 to broadcast on 106.9. KPRS-HD2 currently features an R&B/soul format and has a website/stream. 103.3 KPRS
 
The translator is now Carter Broadcast Group's.
It has gone off-air, yesterday it was on from the old location with KLRX but not now. If this isn't just a glitch due to the weather, we should expect the new signal soon.

Anyone wanna guess what will happen?

I'm not sure if the upgrade's happening now as K-Love is back on 106.9. Apparently it was just an outage...
 
The 106.9 translator is now transmitting KPRS-HD2. So old-school R&B is now on the analog airwaves in Kansas City! Sounds pretty good quality.

The signal is still extremely weak where I heard it though in midtown so I'm not sure if the upgrade happened yet or if they just changed the channel for the translator before the upgrade.
 
Haven't seen any announcements from RadioInsight and InsideRadio, but the broadcast is still going with KPRS-HD2 on 106.9.
For anyone curious the audio is proper stereo, and processed decently well. The bit-rate is a bit low so I can hear some digital artifacts but it's not terrible.

Maybe soon they can make 106.1 that good.

The station's upgrade hasn't been completed judging by reception but I imagine that's coming.
 
As was the case before, I can find a few holes in the reception in Johnson County. Otherwise it's good enough. Musically, I wonder how much overlap it has with KPRS. The presentation is pretty much the same.
 
The new DA's gain is -7.5 dB at 270° and -7.7 dB at 280°, no doubt to protect KTPK in Topeka. It appears northern Johnson County (Kansas) will see little if any improvement in coverage. Much of the improvement is on the Missouri side of the metro.
 
They use the same voiceover announcer as KPRS HD1 and KPRT. Same owner though so maybe that's why.
