106.9--Point's lack of play of African American artists

YAWN. Who gives a ____? I get so tired of people turning everything into a racial issue. I try to be colorblind. Oh, and the controversy probably will increase my listening to "The Point" when I am in Houston because they aren't the first business to be victimized by false accusations of racism.

I have been listening lately to see how many white artists are played on KKDA - the Dallas hip-hop station. I don't recall any. Isn't that racism?

Yeah, isn't it awful, too, that they don't play anything bit Hispanic artists on KESS or KDOC or KLNO?

And how many "white artists" do you hear on Mega?
I'm not even going to mention the "Voice of Vietnam in Houston" KTEK. They don't play "black" or "white" artists.

Here's why you don't hear more urban artists on The Point. Bob Neil is so cheap that he only allows one music test a year shared by all of Cox Radio's 80's stations and he does it where he lives, Tampa/St. Pete. There are very few A/A that live there to share their musical taste.

One more thing: Michael Jackson is a pedaphile and it's a shame that contemporary artists would be forced by his old friend Quincy Jones to record his music to bail him out financially.

Oops! One more thing: I just heard Tone Loc.

Almost all. Ever looked at Shakira, Juanes, Ricky Martin, the guys in Mana, Camila, Oreja de Van Gogh, the 5ta Estación band members, etc?

LOL Now that is funny. How many "white" artists record Hip Hop/R&B music. I can think of four right now, but that is it. Justin Timberlake, Joss Stone, Remy Shand and Robin Thicke.

Oh please, Justin Timberlake is no where near Hip-Hop. I always wonder why some Hip hop stations add his music into their rotation. Thank God KBXX hasn't. Oh and how can you forget the slim shady (eminem) or Paul Wall in that list?

OH .I am miffed because they don't play Polish Whaling songs or Japanese samurai symphonies. And dont get me started on no slim whitman either!!

Because I don't listen to today's "cRAP" music. Now classic hip hop im digging. But the stuff today is not the hip hop I grew up with, so I can't embrace it.

Thats because KTEK is Bizradio 1110. KTEK hasn't played music since the last weekend of January.

I remember emailing Johnny Chaing the former program director over 93q and the point. He said that they would be upgrading their library soon this happen to be Winter of 2003. Well the same crap is played over and over with a little more 90s but they started to do that in 2005.

Unless your in San Antonio, Texas Cox radio sucks. KISS/KONO/KCYY and KSMG sound better (I leave Power 1067 out because their just like to other cox radio stations.

If Clear Channel moved their offices to Houston they would change overnight.

If you wanna break their pockets DO NOT buy anything they sell on the commercials, write a list down of their sponsers. If you have time write a certified letter restricted delivery return receipt letter to their CEO.

I agree except for Magic. Their playlist is horrible.

Ahhhh.....you really dont have a life do you??????

If CC moved their offices to Houston, nothing would change one damn bit.......and if you want to break their pockets, GOOD luck!!!! and go ahead wasting time writing a letter....as if that will change anything (man whatever you are smoking or drinking, we have GOT to get some of that! :)

Lord knows it wouldn't kill 'em to play some Tone Loc, Run D.M.C., Public Enemy, Paula Abdul, Biz Markie, Taylor Dayne, Whitney Houston or Bobby Brown. Michael Jackson is a bit of a stretch since his bedtime antics got him run out of the country. I see Houstonlistener's point, but as another poster said, the same can be said for most any station in town. You don't hear "The Beastie Boys" on KBXX or KPTY and they could certainly be classified as a rap group. I seriously doubt their lack of airplay on any station other than The Buzz can be attributed to their Jewish heritage.

You don't hear the Beasties Boys on 97.9 because they dont fit the format now. Some of their older stuff would fit, but not the stuff they record now.

Actually, I've heard the Beastie Boys, Justin Timberlake, Madonna and The Tom Tom Club on KMJQ several times during the weekend jam thing that they do.

Say, say what you want but if he and his brothers go on another tour (ans they stop in Houston) I'm so there.
