107.7 in Johnston, pirate or satellite radio FM transmitter?

I have been wondering about this 107.7 station that can be heard in Johnston at night. The signal is in mono and plays what sounds like French music in Creole. It's not a strong signal and fades in and out from time to time while driving through Johnston on Plainfield Pike. It seems strongest in this area. Any ideas what it might be? I've never heard an ID or DJ. <P ID="signature">______________
Moe: (Sees a microphone in a radio studio) Ooh, a microphonie!

Curly: Or a phoney at the mike!

Moe: Quiet numbskulls I'm broadcastin'!

From The Three Stooges episode "Micro-Phoneys"</P>

I wonder if "traffic Troll" is the man behind the curtain???

STEVE CONTI.......

No, Steve Conti is not behind 107.7.

He freely operates 89.3 WICE-FM EVERY weekend, Friday night into Sunday night. The estimate of his ERP is nearly 250 Watts with a high gain antenna from a hill in the Johnston/Cranston area near the WWLI-FM Transmitter site. I beleive the station originates from his mother or grant mothers house.

He's been heard as saying the FCC loves him, he won't shut down even when WUMB signs on. Umass Dartmouth is aware of him and so is the FCC.... but i heard from a field officer directly, "We MUST catch him in the act of modulating".....

Isn't it wonderful that his employer, Clear Channel Broadcasting is aware of this and doesn't care?

Oh by the way......... it'll be easy to spot Conti. He drives a black honda with the plates "WICEFM"

Who's Steve Conti? An illeagal station. Who would do such a thing? You know you can get into alot of trouble doing something like that.
Johnston is full of law abiding citizens.People are polite.Even the mayor. He may even have "a smoke" with you if you ask to discuss the HARD work the town employees do including the friendly Police Officers who like to stop, say hello to you and give you a little something when you cut through thier little town to remember them by, especially on Killingly ST.

lol
