107.7 The End debuts “2 Minute Promise”

I vote no on that motion. After all, we know that the replacement would be beyond horrible. I have a feeling it would be more fakester cowboy music or CHR. KNDD has some unique qualities at least.

I doubt Entercom would operate two country stations, but they don't have a real CHR, so who knows?

And what could be 100.7's new slogan: "Finally, a station that airs three completely different songs than the other guys four channels up. Otherwise, it's your best mix of today's hits to keep you going!" Zzzzzz....

Crain, you are a fan of country music, right? What is your opinion on how Entercom operates KKWF?

I used to know a girl who would exclusively listen to KKWF; nothing else. I felt as though a lobotomy would be more enjoyable.

I don't live in Seattle anymore, but KKWF was just your usual country-politan station. 200 song playlist, request after request, contest after contest, howling wolf sound effects after every call-in...and obviously they have never heard of acts like Alabama, Randy Travis or Trisha Yearwood because they have retired almost every 1990s song - you are lucky to hear "Friends in Low Places" by Garth Brooks anymore, and that's not just KKWF, that's all these countrypolitan stations devoting to younger people.

I have listened to 92.1 "Hank FM" KTFW in Fort Worth, online before. That is one of the best country stations I have ever heard in my life. There must be 2000 songs on that playlist spanning early 1960s to 2014. Loads of songs from a few years ago that never get played anymore - ones that reached #25 on the country charts that in 2014, a country "politan" station wouldn't even touch. They also have a smattering of "Texas Country" artists - no way in heck would any big-city station in a state other than Texas touch those at all. They would rather hear Florida Georgia Line rapping about "This is how we roll, we rollin' into town..." (puke)

This was their playlist for 5-6AM this morning: yes a few regular songs but a lot of rarities...
5:03AM - "T-R-O-U-B-L-E" Travis Tritt (I haven't heard this song on a big city station in quite a few years)
5:06AM - "When She Says Baby" Jason Aldean
5:09AM - "One Bud Wiser" Gretchen Wilson (big city station wouldn't touch this one)
5:13AM - "Somewhere in My Broken Heart" Billy Dean (I suppose 99% of those Wolf listeners don't even know this artist. 10 top 10 hits in the 1990s for him)
5:16AM - "These Are My People" Rodney Atkins
5:20AM - "Baby Blue" George Strait (I would be shocked if any top 20 market airs this George hit - they are stuck on Check Yes or No and I Got a Car!)
5:26AM - "See You Tonight" Scotty McCreary
5:30AM - "Let Me Tell You About Love" - The Judds (I suspect KMPS hasn't aired any Judds since the 90s)
5:33AM - "Only Prettier" Miranda Lambert
5:36AM - "That Ain't My Truck" - Rhett Akins (rare to hear)
5:43AM - "Never Wanted Nothing More" - Kenny Chesney
5:47AM - "Yes!" Chad Brock
5:56AM - "Knee Deep" Zac Brown/Jimmy Buffett

I am not a big country fan, but I was discussing KKWF with a friend yesterday and she, like myself, is kind of annoyed with the people trying to do the wolf howl. We both like KMPS better, but I'm not a huge country listener, never have been.

Agreed. I'd listen to The End more if there were more of older stuff played. I know it'll probably never happen, but a guy can hope, can't he?

That would qualify them for Adult Album Alternative. I think KNDD would be much better if they tried to emulate the KNRK (Portland) format.

The END :-(

What a steaming pile! They just traded one type of commercial for another. There own unending and repetitive THE END commercials MORE than make up for the "2 min of commercials" they say they don't play.

What a joke! More commercials than ever!

Hard to listen to :-(

Has anyone noticed that KNDD has morphed into a carbon copy of KNRK in Portland? Both stations now live by the moniker "Music Discovery". Interestingly, "Discover Music" is also the motto that KINK has been using since they dumped "True to the Music" a few months ago. Interesting.

Even before KNDD relaunched a couple months ago I noticed they were trying to emulate KNRK. Yawn. Maybe it's just me, but I'm bored by the presentation of both of those stations.

Unfortunately, I see a lot of the same programming on KNDD on KINK these days. KNDD IS alternative, but they don't really play anything interesting. Most of the songs reappear every few hours.

I dont like KINK anymore, they have a morning host with a silly name, "Marconi". They play more music bordering on hot AC. And Shelia is snotty on the air. I stream XRT out of Chicago which has a wider variety.

Marconi was once a KNDD jock

I completely agree (and I used to love KINK).

KINK's first mistake was dropping their long time "true to the music" moniker in favour of "music discovery". They also added a female voice for most of the bumpers, liners, and promos. "101-9... KINK. Your station for music discovery" which sounds more like "101-9 KINK. Your Staaaation for muasic disc-uh-vray" (in standard valley girl lingo).

It just isn't what it used to be.

Oh goodness. I'd forgotten about him. His show was awful. IIRC he did it from Portland it was carried both in Portland and Seattle.

I believe he was the immediate successor to Andy Savage; his term in Seattle was very short (six weeks?)

Lots of silly names from down there, "Robin Banks", "Pork Chop". "Ric ker" went there too after KISW. The most annoying host ev er.
