107.7 The End debuts “2 Minute Promise”

I still have a True to the Music sticker, circa mid 80's. I should put it on the car to see if anyone notices. But I would trade 10 of those for an 96.5 X sticker.

They'll think you live in Vancouver or Camas, not in the Seattle area!

Oh goodness. I'd forgotten about him. His show was awful. IIRC he did it from Portland it was carried both in Portland and Seattle.

I believe he was the immediate successor to Andy Savage; his term in Seattle was very short (six weeks?)

I have not had many chances to listen to the new Shelia and Marconi show on KINK, but from what I have heard, I am not really impressed. I don't even know why I didn't like it, maybe it has something to do with the fact that I have only tried listening in the car where the signal drops out from time to time and I miss segments of the show. I can hear Shelia quite well, but sometimes it feels like Marconi isn't even in the building.

The KINK logo has evolved. I think they should just morph the logo into a picture of Brittany Spears, as she is a representation of what their imaging sounds like.

latest trends show that 2 minute promise has indeed extended the AQH listening time and 'stablized the CUME which had been dropping. so certainly not a failure in that regard. as for KNRK and KNDD being the same I believe they are both Entercom stations so you would expect duplication. I would predict KNRK to make the same move depending on their spot load.

I agree; it makes total sense that KNDD and KNRK are plugging the "music discovery" thing with identical playlists. What I cannot seem to fathom is why KINK is taking on the same moniker as their market competition. Effectively, KINK is the same concept of KNRK with a better variety of classic songs.

It really is good to see that KNDD has been successful with the 2 minute promise; I was skeptical. Of course, listening to KNDD for too long will nevertheless cause my head/brain to look a bit like the new end logo.

I still say KNDD's new logo looks like a salad bowl falling off a table.

Gotta be that "Seahawk" spirit, ya know...But a salad bowl is really random.
105.7 "The Hawk" here in Yakima, the ex-Bob FM, is blue and green on their logo as well - probably Seahawks spirit as well.

There's an old-style analog radio in the kitchen down here, I'm going to guess it was made in about 1999. After some difficulty the other night, I flipped it on and KINK was playing Rude. Now is that really alternative? I thought I had had it on K103 which is what I actually wanted. Then they went into some unknown AAA track.

KINK was probably heading down a road that included older farts like me who were 20 somethings when Jeff Clarke, Sean Marten and Lacy Turner massaged the airwaves with ambition and a love of the artists they broadcast. That has been replaced with more star-power and less free-form which TRULY made 70's and 80's ray-dio great. KINK hired or kept people my age to tell us how lame the older music is, as if the old KINK was still relevant, but they too will be sent on their way like Dave Scott and Sean Marten. People are making their own playlists courtesy of MP 3s and other devices. A few stations are still out there if you can find them...

One thing can said for "The Mountain", they did not play the same game as their sister station, KNDD. KINK is effectively KNRK with some older songs in the mix. "Demons" by Imagine Dragons, "Stay with me" by Sam Smith, and "Lana Del Ray"? *sighs*

KINK is owned by Alpha Broadcasting. KNRK Portland and KNDD Seattle are owned by Entercom. Therefore KINK and KNRK are competitors not sisters. Further discussion on Portland radio may be better suited for Portland radio forum where there are folks likely more knowledgeable than either of us on the workings and dealings in that market.

Fair enough Ford. I can tell you that KINK took a huge dive in the last round of ratings so clearly something is askew - that or the meters just weren't kind.
