1120/WPRX Faces License Revocation For Failing To Pay Annual Fee To FCC

Theyve done this before and always end up clearing it up.
 
They've only paid for 3 out of the past 11 years. We know they've done it before & you say they always end up clearing it up, but they only paid for 2015, 2018 & 2019. That clears it up for those years, but they still owe $27,151. The FCC is requiring them to file an explanation of why they haven't paid in most of the past dozen years, as well as making a case as to why the fees should be waived or deferred. It also warns that the FCC has the authority under federal law to revoke a license for failure to pay regulatory fees in a "timely fashion". If you don't pay for your car registration and insurance by the due date and get caught by the police, there are issues. These FCC fees should be paid by a due date. I'm surprised they are not strict, & ask for them in a "timely fashion".

the FCC isnt license delete happy these days, especialyl over "minor" issues like unpaid fees... if they pay up and offer even a remotely plausible excuse me apology, theyll get everything taken care of.
 
If you don't pay your taxes, a governmental agency like the IRS will get their money from you, whether it be fines, levees or seizure. I'm sure WPRX makes much more than $3000 in ad revenue yearly - the approximate yearly regulatory fee. A radio station that doesn't pay their regulatory fees is like, in my opinion, a pirate radio station, which the FCC quickly & swiftly shuts down. Paying regulatory fees to the FCC should be a top priority of a radio stations' annual operating budget.

Listen to the station for ads, thatll tell you if people are listening and what types.

Obviously some people are

what WPRX has going for it is that its been around forever doing spanish so it has heritage built up

The station has been estimated to be billing less than $15,000 a month. If they are making money at all after expenses, it is minimal.

Heck, just a sales manager is going to want around $75 k to $80 k in that kind of market. Even an owner/manager is going to barely make a living wage at such a low billing level.
