1180 KERN radio signal is still going strong thru the night?

I have been driving from Fresno to Porterville just before sunset and I have heard 1180 Kern Radio piping down their transmitter at around 8:10-8:15. Lately, it's still been going strong, even during the night. I know it goes from 50k watts during the day to 10k after sunset. What's going on? ???
