12:04 A.M. December 26th: All-Christmas Fades From Magic; Still On Oldies 103

A few minutes past 12 Midnight today (December 26th), WMJX-106.7 ended it's all-Christmas marathon and is back to it's regular soft AC format.

At this writing (12:30 A.M.), WODS-103.3 is still all-Christmas, but the Christmas music will probably vanish from WODS later this morning.

Although I personally think it's overkill for both to go all-Christmas for such a long period of time, look for both stations to again go all-Christmas music next year. It will also start much earlier-----likely in early November.

They switched back at 6 AM.
as of 8 AM 91.3 & 95.1 still had Christmas music playing.

What area are you listening in? We don't have stations on those frequencies in Boston...

There are various college stations on 91.3 in outlying suburbs, and the closest 95.1 is on Cape Cod.

Who are you kidding?! You love this stuff.

Also WXRB in Dudley, MA
http://www.geocities.com/wxrbfm/

"THIS IS THE PLACE !!!: 24 hours a day, 7 days a week in full-Stereo... Rock & Roll's FIRST quarter century is on 95.1 FM, for the fine folks in Southern Worcester (MA) and Northern Windham (CT) Counties"

WMWM is doing automated smooth jazz and jazz until live DJs return on Jan 2.
(Also: a rebroadcast of Juke Joint with myself, from 10/2/05, will air
New Yrs day at noon.)
Have heard that today will be about 10 per cent Christmas songs, then
it's 0 per cent Yule after that.

Considering that it's only us radio gees who would spend every minute of our night just to see if a radio station will start playing a genre of music, I would say that it's not so big a deal, imho.

IT'S THE MOST WONDERFUL DAY OF THE YEAR

... another 11 or so months until we have to read posts about this format (maybe) and, best of all, HEAR X-MAS MUSIC!!!

It was nice to tune to 103.3 at 10:30 am and hear Dylan's "Lay lady Lay" instead of a Christmas song. To everything there is a season, and now we can turn,
turn, turn back to 103.3 knowing Christmas tunes are off.

Took a cruise to The Home Depot in Avon and heard those two stations.
91.3 is Stonehill(I wish that station had a better signal, they play some good stuff) and I assume you are right about 95.1 from the Cape.

At alarm time -5:59- 103.3 played Kenny Loggins' "Celebrate Me Home" to get back in format. I have no idea what Christmas tune preceeded it to end the month long flip.

And I predict that you, Joe, will make your first all-Christmas music 2006 post on or around October 1, 2006.

Only about 278 days to go. ;o)

Oldies 103 (YAWN)

Boston seems to love repetition. I'll admit that the Christmas music on Oldies 103 was a breath of much needed fresh air compared to the regular format. I actually listened more to Oldies 103 while they played Christmas than I do with their regular format. I give credit to those who can listen to the same songs over and over (repeat over and over fifty times) and not get sick of them. I rarely listen at all. Though I like oldies, there's nothing interesting about the music on Oldies 103. What I do like is AM 1520 WWKB in Buffalo. Now there's station with variety-and they still play 50's. Any time after sunset and throughout the night, my radio is on 1520 AM.
______________
