REALLY? Watch last nights TV and you'll know what they're going to talk about. Fact is Gavin fought for them tooth and nail and saved their jobs by putting his own ass on the line multiple times. They fell into a good spot when times were good and made the most of it, but are now at the gloryhole of radio and will soon be on their knees at an AM radio station in North Dakota fighting for the first guest at the hole. I'd say they were no talent hacks, but then I would be disrespecting Ron and Don.

REALLY. It can just as easily be said all Russ Martin had was a fart machine, and when he wasn't using the fart machine to fill airtime he was playing tapes of himself using the fart machine from yesterday's show.

Your childish simplification of P&K's show aside, what content exactly do you expect to hear from their type of lifestyle program? The DFW is kind of a cultural wasteland so is it surprising they pull content from not just tv, but the internet and news services as well? Not to mention sharing tales of their personal lives and inviting touring performers to the show. So stop being a puss and tell us exactly what content you expect from a show such as P&K's.

Actually, you'll find more people who liked the RMS than Pugs and Kelly. They were horrible to be around and work for/with.

Considering this comes from an anonymous message board poster your word is no more authoritative than northernlights. I guess we just have to assume that there on-air personas reflect their off-air personalities to a certain extent. P&K portray themselves as regular, decent people on-air. Russ Martin portrayed himself as a crazed, woman-beating gun nut. It's amazing how that works out, isn't it?

The only incompetent thing Gavin did was fight for Pugs and Kelly for so long. They could have been easily replaced and he would have suffered a lot less. Especially under Ongaro. Pugs and Kelly had good ratings when they had Stern and Russ as bookends. Especially with Stern because he ran over and they averaged doing a 3 1/2 hour show. They have no content. Hell, why do you think they're going after a PD who is Houston and a host who has been off the air since December? Any smart host/PD would tell them to move on and quit recognizing the past and giving them credence, but they can't. They have NO CONTENT!

Their going after their former PD and a has-been host turned out to be pretty good content. It answered a lot questions people had about KLLI, their departure from that station, and provided some insider insight into the whole RMS debacle. I found the segments fascinating, much more so than the NASCAR talk Gavin was forcing upon their old show. Any PD who instructs his talk show talent to quit acknowledging the past is an idiot.

Challenging another host to a "cage match"? Are we in Tyler?

No. We're just a hundred miles west of Tyler and the radio listener sensibilities are pretty much identical.

Look at how Pugs and Kelly broke into a major market and then you realize what slime balls they are. They had a nice gig with a Stern lead in and Russ lead out. When they lost one, they couldn't carry their weight. They suck. No show prep, poor content, etc. Look at their history. No ratings and nobody wants to work with them, except no talent ****** bags like BDH. Another 6 months they'll go the way of Ron and Don, Liz Wilde, Kramer And Twitch, etc. No talent, no ratings, no show. It's actually a simple equation.

And Gavin is the one person who fought for them. They are the scum of the Earth and will soon broadcast from there.

First of all, it's kind of funny that Pugs is calling Gavin a pussey....I think anyone who listened to the Russ Martin Show for any period of time got hip to that right away.

And while I did like listening to Pugs and Kelley when they first started, they got kind of annoying after a while.
Russ Martin could be entertaining for a segment, but he was so damn mean spirited to everyone who was on the show with him that I was back to listening to the Ticket within two minutes. If how he treated JD Ryan and Gavin is an example of how he treats his friends, I'd really hate to be one of his enemies.
It didn't really surprise when Richard Hunter revealed how much of a fraud his bits were. Hell, maybe the way he treated JD and everyone else was a bit too. But he sure trashed Dan Lewis a ton.

Anyway....Life goes on.

Ok...bored with the back and forth with you. You're one of the folks on here that have the Gestapo beliefs that if you say Russ and crew wasn't funny, then it wasn't funny. You mean there were parts of the show that were fake??? My god, the sky is falling. As someone who has sat in on the studio audience, I'm well aware that not everything was real...and I still liked the show. You didn't...good for you. But, just because you didn't doesn't mean that anybody who did is less of a person because of it. You're basically doing the same thing that you and Pugs, BDH, et al are accusing Russ of. Congrats.

Pugs and Kelly was forced on 105.3 due to a contract situation. Is it a bad thing for a PD to be disliked? It hasn't hurt Bigby. If Spittle's such a loser (and he didn't do KRLD or 105.3 any favors) he's somehow got the CBS people snowed. The market manager in Houston (Purdy?) spoke about him as if he were a radio God.

Nobody disputes the circumstances which led to P&K's arrival at KLLI.  Whether that situation kept them on the air for eight years is a whole different argument. 

As for an arguably incompetent Gavin having CBS management completely snowed I'd like to welcome you to your first day in corporate America.
