2,000 Men Show Up to Steve Harvey Taping to Call Women Bitches

This past Sunday in Chicago, comedian and long suit enthusiast Steve Harvey held a taping for a two-hour special of his eponymous daytime program. The theme of the show was “What Men Really Think,” and to that end, Harvey packed 2,000 dudes into a theatre downtown. And those men, according to several attendees, did their jobs, calling female guests bitches, hounding them with catcalls, howls, and whistles, and lobbing homophobic slurs at one man in the audience.

One would have to ask - what was the point of this? I am not a Steve Harvey fan and definitely do not find him funny at all so it really makes me wonder what his purpose was. Additionally, NBC, lowering the bar every day, is also responsible for this worthless piece. We don't need crap like this on our airwaves.

I've been noticing that Steve Harvey is becoming another Ryan Seacrest - he is everywhere. He has a syndicated morning radio show, his syndicated afternoon TV talk show, and is the current host of the awful Family Feud.

I don't get the attraction, either. I remember his stand-up act, and it wasn't particularly stand-OUT in any way.

What the hell? I thought Steve Harvey's talk show was a lot better than this. I guess the "Family Feud" sexual innuendo creep has reached his talk show.
I sure hope this doesn't air on broadcast TV. But it likely will, so much has flown over on trash-talk shows it's amazing.
By the way, Steve Harvey, even though the show has gone closer to a TV14-rating, has made Family Feud a major success in syndication. It was sitting at #3 in the household ratings with a 6.0, and 4th in total viewers. His talk show is not even in the top 25, but of course it's summer, not fall, when new episodes are produced.

PS - 7500 posts!! Thanks everyone!

I'll admit I haven't watched Steve Harvey's talk show much, but I thought it was better than the trash talk like Springer, Maury, etc. But apparently he's starting to stoop to their level.

I don't read that Steve himself said anything negative. Why not bash all the thoughtless men in the audience? He's simply giving them a forum to express themselves.

Could you imagine Steve Harvey doing DNA tests and performing lie detector tests on cheaters? I can't. And I hope he doesn't go that way - or I have no sympathy for him and NBC Universal syndication. They have already renewed Wilkos/Springer/Maury to 2017-2018.

They deserve to be bashed but unfortunately they are (1) unknown and (2) not the show's host or broadcast owner. The responsibility lies with the idiots who hosted and produced this idiotic mess.

Nope. Every day, radio and TV stations provide forums for the people. What those people say is their own individual responsibility. If they're not ashamed, then we should find ways to make them feel ashamed.

The responsibility for the host & producer is to meet the legal requirements, and attract an audience for advertisers. They didn't make these people stupid, and ignoring their opinions doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

The celebrity version was way up there too, sometimes close to number one. It might have been number one. And raunchy like you wouldn't believe, and I think they did cross the TV-14 line. Even the "Duck Dynasty" cast were willing to be off-color.

I don't know. "Big Brother" on CBS usually wins the summer in terms of viewers, but Celebrity F-F may have also done well.

From USA Today, through another site I go to (by the way, one week World Cup soccer was #1 but not listed, so the ranking should be lower):

#2 July 20-26
#3 July 13-19 and the baseball All-Star Game was #1
#2 July 6-12
#5 June 29-July 5
#3 June 22-28
#3 June 15-21

By the way, USA Today only lists ABC, CBS, Fox, NBC and Univision. This used to not be a concern but I should realize it is now. They print a separate list of only the top cable shows but I don't look at that.

Just want to point out that this entire thread is based on a blog post taken from people who attended the taping. TTBOMK, this particular episode has not aired yet. It seems to me that a lot of people are jumping to conclusions based on a blog post.

The way I read the description, this was nothing like a "forum" nor was it intended to be a serious discussion of the "issues". It sounded like a crowd of liquored-up frat boys.

You forgot within the bounds of good taste and morals. This appeared to be well over the line.

I thought of that when I read the OP, however, decided to comment anyway due to the obvious tastelessness of the host and his sycophants. I'm certainly no prude but this junk is clearly outside the worthwhile use of the public airwaves.
