First of all, it is Ft. Myers. Secondly, the stations are WMYR (1410), WCNZ (1660) WVOI (1480) and W294AN (106.7). Thirdly, 1.9 million is absolutely ludricous. Maybe 900k on a good day...
The land WMYR is on (Hansen St. in Ft. Myers) is most likely worth more than the station. That facility is fairly new, having been built in 2005, I think. WVOI should've signed off years ago if the FCC five-year rule was obeyed. The tower site for the diplexed WVOI and WCNZ has to be seen to be believed... And their "studios" aren't much better.
Did I mention that there is zero cash flow and zero audience? I wish them luck and hope, if the stations are sold, they go to someone that knows how to run them.

Oh I agree. No doubt these stations will end up being religious or foreign language in nature. It would be nice to see a good owner come along and try and make them into something that would serve their respective communities particularly here in Collier County as we really don't have what I could consider a "local" station any longer. All of the Naples stations have been bought up by the big guys and and are now all designed to serve Fort Myers more than Naples. But I know that I am dreaming so bring on the holy rollers and/or the Spanish speakers.

The asking price for the 1410/1480/1660 trio + translator most likely relates to what the current owner paid for the properties vs. todays real world market price. It is unfortunate, but anyone who purchased a radio station(s) during the post deregulation buying frenzy of mid '96 to mid '06 over paid. The early buyers who flipped did well, but most of those still holding stations bought during that time know all too well that their valuations and investments are down considerably.
I know operators whose stations today will only bring a third of what they paid just 8 years ago. Times are tough today for everyone and that includes the religious and ethnic broadcasters. I doubt that there will be any saviour cash buyers for these properties with the condition they are in.
On the positive side, as a broadcaster, I do like the market coverage you get with the 1410/1660 duopoly. The current operators in the market have not maximized the programming potential in the AM band, so there is a terrific opportunity to succeed with the right spoken word format on these 2 signals. In order for the new operator to have an opportunity to cash flow the purchase, the sales price of the 1410/1660 pair will have to be much less than what is currently being offered.

1410 and 1660, when operating at their licensed power (which they aren't now) do cover the market well. It's a shame that 1660's tower isn't separate from and further north than the 1480 towers. Their coverage would be very nice.

I feel for Marco and Naples, as 1660 heads out to sea for good coverage... I lived about ten miles from Marco, on Collier and the 1660 was degraded, by then, even at 10kw.. But, it seemed to skip on the gulf, well.... Those stations would be lucky to garner 500 k... So, sad...
