5 Cable TV Networks Most Likely to Shutdown As of February 2025

All are true and it's all tied to their respective owners protecting their flagship streaming apps. VH1 should have been on this list too for the same reasons as MTV is facing such as younger viewers go to places like Spotify, iheart, for music and yes iheart music awards show garners more attention for the past decade.

Well, the headline is a bit misleading. No one is saying shut down MTV or VH-1. It's about their subsidiary channels. MTV2 and MTV Classic. I would guess the same is true of VH-1. The article also mentions FXX as in danger but not FX. BET Her and BET Soul are in danger, but not BET.

When times were good, all these successful channels cloned themselves. Now we really don't need the clones.

I could see them phasing out ESPNU and moving those lower tier college sports to ESPN+ since that channel is mostly reruns during the summer and during the the academic year
