76ers 2011-12 Schedule - 64 Of 66 Games To Air On WIP-FM

http://www.nba.com/sixers/news/sixers_announce_201112_radio__2011_12_14.html

For the upcoming shortened 2011-12 NBA season, WIP 94.1 will air all but two Sixers games. The games airing on WIP 610 are on February 21 and April 3, both road games. There are Flyers games scheduled for both of those nights - one of them (February 21) also a road game.

Didn't the 76ers have precedence over the Flyers on WIP? Don't know if the move to FM or the NBA lockout fixed that.

Before WIP became co-producer of the Sixers Radio Network, the Flyers always had precedence and then after they balanced out somewhat but still leaned towards the Flyers. In recent years though it's changed to the Sixers getting more precedence than before.

Interesting non-76ers-related nugget thrown in at the end of that press release.

About SportsRadio WIP:

WIP is one of the first all-sports formatted stations in the nation and programming for the top-rated outlet can be heard on 94.1FM and 610 AM. The CBS RADIO properties are the leading stations of its kind in Philadelphia and serve as the flagship stations for the Philadelphia Eagles, Philadelphia Phillies, Philadelphia 76ers and the Philadelphia Flyers.

The 76ers usually get precedence over the Flyers in the playoffs, because the Flyers usually go deeper in the playoffs. This year during 3-team conflicts, the Sixers were on 610 WIP and the Flyers were on 94 WYSP. The Sixers weren't on WYSP at all in the playoffs.

Technically, it could be interpreted to mean the CBS radio stations--including, presumably, WPHT--are flagships depending on how one wants to read the awkward phrasing.

If you were WIP, which team would you give precedence too? Philly is more of an NHL town than an NBA town now. New ownership or not, the Sixers will have a hard time getting back to where they once were.

Philly's #1 sport is baseball, followed by football and hockey.

That is a recent trend. Football is still king. Baseball is a close 2nd

Agreed. And football is far more popular in Philadelphia when the team isn't good than baseball is.

WIP is going to have an interesting time scheduling games in September and October now that they are airing the Phillies, Flyers, Eagles, and the 76ers. All which have games those two months.

If 3 are playing at one time, one on WIP-AM, one on WIP-FM and one on WPHT. If all 4 are playing at the same time, which I doubt would happen, the 4th on WOGL.
